Orange Lake Reserve
I really enjoyed playing this golf course. The layout was exactly what I was expecting from a Florida golf course with challenging approach shots across water to greens tucked behind bulkheads and of course the occasional alligator sunning himself along the bank ofa lake. The staff at the course was very friendly and helpful especially Mike the starter. I will definitely come back and play this course again.
Need better starter and marshall (course expert)
Great layout and course conditions, however the pace of play was eradic/horrible. The starter and marshall, or lack there of, needs retraining. The marshall is called the "course expert" at this course. Groups need to go out as foursomes. The pace of play was so bad it made eveyone want to just finish and leave.
Great Layout
Played the Legends Course for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Challenging and fun to play, can’t think of any weak holes.
Slow play.
Should have had some one to speed up the slow players on the course.
Be Patient It's Slow Playing
It took us 3 1/4 hours to play the first nine holes, which I found ridiculous. No marshalls in site. Thankfully the last nine only took 2 hours. Long day on the links and no fun if you have to wait for just about every shot. The couple we were grouped with told us it was much the same on their previous round here.
Now having said that. The course was in great condition, tees, fairways and greens were in good shape. There were some very narrow fairways.
The staff were good. The guy loading our clubs very pleasant. The starter was also quite good.
Reserve course
Nice course some holes very challenging but all in all was happy with everything
Interesting and challenging course in very good condition. Convient location off Hwy 192 near Disney.
All great but pro shop said open until 7 closedown at 5.30 and wanted to spend so dollars
Great condition
Course is in great condition greens running true and fast pace of play excellent played in just over 3 hours as a threesome
Perfect from start to finish
From the starter to the guys at the end, we felt welcome and informed about the course. Said this course was under new management and they were gradually getting it back into shape. We thought it was in excellent shape, fast greens, and except for the first hole, a fabulous layout. It was fair for golfers of all levels, husband is a scratch and ladies tees were just right. No suggestions for improvement, was pleasantly surprised at the condition.
Florida A plus weather
Played Orange Lake Legends over many years of ownership here and this year the course is in the best condition I can remember. Best thing about the course is the variety of holes.
Fog Delay?
5+ hour round!!! Where do I start? With the starter of course…there was fog so they did not start the groups on time. So the starter began matchmaking; making 3’s 4’s etc...not a bad idea and as he explained he was concerned about pace of play. Then he stacked the groups up so there were 2 groups waiting on a 3rd group to tee off. The stacking was then exacerbated by some of the earlier groups being slow players…where was the ranger to enforce the pace of play; which - by the way - was the excuse that the start was using to launch groups quicker and combine groups. Ok, so I complain about the starter but he was very polite and helpful and doing what he could do to get golfers on the course.
So, pace of play…no one understands how to manage pace and that applied especially to the two groups ahead of us. Slow walking, carding 9’s and 10’s as they meander back and forth across the fairway, lining up that 1 foot putt, blasé blasé blah! Again no ranger but we did see someone in a cart bearing the legend “course expert” who, while nice and all, did nothing to speed up the pace. Never mind what that our group never was able to establish a rhythm (we lost our 4th after 9 holes and our 3rd after 14 - he had better things to do). Ok, general indifference on the part of some of the staff and why is the “pro shop” a bodega? Weird…
The course itself was in great condition. The cart guys were the best. The greens were rolling around a 10 and were awesome, the weather was great and my playing partner was my golf Rabbi. If you get a chance and have a lot of time, play this course, but not on a foggy morning. Will I play here again? No, its an hour away from home and I just don't want to gamble on another 5 1/2 hour round.
Nice track
Arnold Palmer course... how much can you say it was awesome
Improving
Played this course early morning in the mist, when you couldn’t see where your drives were landing. As I’ve played here many times over many years it wasn’t such a problem. After being ruined by the previous course management organisation the course is now improving. Lots of work being done to good effect.
Pace of play was slow, took nearly five hours to complete the round, possibly due to only 8 minutes between tee times ?
Non golfers are still using the cart paths for exercise etc, surely only a matter of time before someone is injured, course and resort management seem not to care about this safety problem.
Good Course
Good course for the money. Fairways and greens were in great shape and had a very enjoyable round. Pace of play was also very good.
I played this course 2 years ago and it has gotten better.
