Worth Playing
Course is very nice and pace of play was pretty good. Staff is very friendly. The greens are fast. This is early spring so the fairways are not lush and the rough is not very thick. We enjoyed the round.
great shape
We played with 2 gents and had lots of fun, greens were really good, played in 4 hr 5 min, held up a few times.
Challenging course. Good value.
Pace of play slow on back nine. No Marshall moving people along.
Fun course
Fun course to play. Good condition. Pace of play was terrible -waited on every shot!
Thank goodness for good playing partners
Spent considerable time trying to find the pro shop due to poor directions at the entrance and a small sign at the actual location.
As a result of the above we were late for our tee time, however, the pro shop said they could accommodate us just go speak to the starter.
Paired up with another two some from Canada.
Unfortunately we ended up following a fivesome (?).
Pace was still good until we reached the third hole a par 3 where we the fourth group waiting. At that time the "Course Expert" (Marshall) shows up and tells the fivesome to break up. The hole is a strange one as you play the hole and then come all the way back for the next tee. The marshal stays on this tee and made no effort to tell the people playing the fourth they were a hole behind and causing the delay. The fivesome were not holding anyone up. Last time we saw him??
Sorry for the details but being a marshall for eighteen years I didn't think the problem was handled well and things didn't improve and it resulted in a five hour round.
When we finally returned to the pro shop the staff ignored us (cleaned clubs for the group in front and the twosome with us and went with them on the cart to the parking lot). We carried our clubs to the car.
Positive point: Course conditions were good with fast true greens and lots of grass on the tees and greens. GOOD Overseeding.
Nice course but pricey
Nice course. We paid $65.00 for a late afternoon round. I thought it was a little pricey. I would not pay more then that for prime time. Outside of the Disney area I would pay more like $45 - $65. Tight fairways and smaller greens. Mature trees that can come into play. We played Blue Tees at 6300 yards. It was a good challenge but we had to hit Irons of some of the par 4's due very tight landing areas in between the condo's and water. Fun course they just get a little more money due to area. It gets allot of play so it may be a 4.5 to 5 hour round depending on time of day.
Course Ranger needed
Staff very good. Course improving as a result of change in management company and time and effort that’s obviously being put into it. Biggest disappointment is that non golfers are still using the golf cart paths, for exercise, short cuts, cycling, skateboarding etc, This is a safety issue, and the potential for someone to be injured is high. This has been highlighted to the resort management numerous times without response.
Bob from VA
Course was in good shape given the time of year, and the greens were very good and rolling well. Noticed loads of sod being brought in so some upgrading must be planned. Good value.
Won't Play Again
I was visiting the area and only had time to play 9 holes. The condition of the course was good but having so many par 3 holes I only used my PW and Putter which isn't much fun for me. I also felt like the pace was pushy. This is truly just a tourist course and not for me.
Problem with starter
I don't know how it happened, but the starter (Mike) gave my slot away to someone else. That, combined with slow play, I was on the course for over 6 hours. The course is very nice.
If you like 5 hour golf...
If you like 5 hour golf, this is the place for you. Yes it is a resort, so golfers tend to be slower than usual but to not have a starter or a ranger for a course like this is ridiculous. On some holes, we would wait up to 20+ minutes and there would be 3-5 groups. They allowed groups to play together so there were 7 carts in one tee time. The course has a great layout, and is in pretty good shape overall. I am a local resident, but I might not play at this course until it’s cheaper in the summer or I’ll just avoid the course in general.
Best course in Orlando area
This course was absolutely beautiful. My first Arnold Palmer course and will not be my last. Absolutely everything was perfect, great condition tee to green. Was a tough course but was fair. Can't wait to come back and play this one again!!!!!
Orange Lake Reserve
I really enjoyed playing this golf course. The layout was exactly what I was expecting from a Florida golf course with challenging approach shots across water to greens tucked behind bulkheads and of course the occasional alligator sunning himself along the bank ofa lake. The staff at the course was very friendly and helpful especially Mike the starter. I will definitely come back and play this course again.
Need better starter and marshall (course expert)
Great layout and course conditions, however the pace of play was eradic/horrible. The starter and marshall, or lack there of, needs retraining. The marshall is called the "course expert" at this course. Groups need to go out as foursomes. The pace of play was so bad it made eveyone want to just finish and leave.
