Ok condition, but need a ranger
Unfortunately it was cart path only when we played which really slowed things down. I don’t mind the walking but groups ahead of us struggled to keep up which made the round slow.
Condition of the course was ok, greens smooth but very slow and fairways very soft from the watering. I am guessing they are getting the courses ready for the busy season in a month or so. There was overseeding and lots of water! Ok for the money.
Good course for occasional golfers as the holes give enough variety to challenge the average players
Course was fairly wet due to previous bad weather but overall very pleasant to play without being too demanding.
The best it’s ever been
Amazing. Just amazing. We visit every year and it’s now the best I’ve ever seen it. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens are just perfect. The layout has always been a challenge, but perfect conditions around these challenging holes make for a very enjoyable experience. So nice that I returned and played it again rather than another course in the area.
I was disappointed to see wood pallets laying alongside the cart path on #5. They’ve been there a while as grass has grown around them. And also disappointed to see a number of bottles floating in the swamp below the bridge between #2 and #3. Minimal effort is needed to pick these up. Not sure why it’s not done daily.
Overall though, just a fantastic experience.
Penny Ante, Dollars Out the 'FANNY'!
WOW! I got a great deal through 'GolfNow'! 20 something dollars for greens fees, normally over $50.
WOW! The Rental Clubs were over $30
WOW! I got no help finding my way to pick up the clubs & cart! When I got there, I was given a fairly new looking bag and clubs.
WOW! They forgot to tell me, I needed to go back to the pro shop & buy some balls & tees, Another $30 plus!
WOW! I got hooked up with some great guys, who loaned me a towel and ball markers.
WOW! I wanted to grab a snack & wait for my wife to come pick me up, so I find the place is set up to sell overpriced FUDGE and overpriced Hot Dogs and they don't accept CASH!!!
WOW! I'm just happy I left with the shirt on my back.
We come to Florida once a year and The Legends is one of our favourite courses. Bit this year we are disappointed. The greens are slow and not up to the standard of other courses we played .You will find patches without grass others with grass that shouldnt be on fast greens. Apparantly the course is renewing the bunkers maybe not enough time for the rest of the course.
Go somewhere else
The greens were about as fuzzy as a 6 month old chia pet. The greens were also very, very patchy on some. The staff were awesome, friendly as can be. The pace of play was so bad we (3) were able to play 2 balls every stroke. I really hope the person uploading the pictures of this course gets the raise they deserve. We paid about $20 more than it was worth. *no where near what the pictures portray*
Wasted time and money
The course was closed a couple of days (Thursday and Friday) for overseeding. So you would assume that the first day open after overseeing, Saturday, that the greens would be freshly mowed and cups newly cut. WRONG! The greens were in awful condition. I might be willing to forgive that, but I don't forgive lack of effort when I spend valuable time and money to play golf. We played early Saturday morning and the tee sheet was packed. The greens had not been cut, so not only were they hairy, they were also covered in dew. The cups looked like they had not been moved in a week. These were the worst conditioned greens I have played in years! They had spent a lot of money recently replacing the sand in bunkers and refurbishing some of the bridges through the swamps. So it is hard to understand why the greens were allowed to be so bad. I had played here several time over the last 10-15 years and had always thought the course was above average. No longer!
On a positive note, the starter was honest telling us in advance the course needed some work. We also enjoyed great weather and the father-son two ball we were paired with. The restaurant/sports bar after the round was clearly the highlight of the day. Go enjoy the restaurant and don't waste your time or money on golf here until they make major improvements to the course, especially the greens.
Fun time
Course was under some repair but we still had a great time playing at night
Fun time
The course was in the best condition in years. Have played there many times. Think its under new management.
Challenge!
Great course. Layout was tough but playable! Few longgggg par 5s but multiple tees to hit from! I’d play it again. I’d probably play it differently next time but that’s normal! Great course. Cost effective. Would promote it for sure. Played reserve as well few years ago. Both great
Better than expected
The course was in good shape. Greens a little slow because of top dressing but that should be gone soon as there has been heavy rain recently.
Great course for seeing birds
The course lived up to its name of Cranes Bend as their were many birds all along the holes. That may have been due to all the casual water left over from Irma. Many areas were so soft and the grass so long that you could not get to or find your ball in the fairway. It will be a decent course once all the water dries up but I feel they opened it too early and did not tell me about the water when I booked.
Surprisingly good condition despite the wet weather and past hurricane Irma
This is a nice track with some challenges. They have done a lot of work in the surrounding (cleaned the woods). Tee boxes and bunkers are mostly good. Fairways still have some wet spots, but are well playable. Greens are not very fast but true and on the second nine have some mold spots which would require good attention … Staff not seen a lot, except the beverage cart and at the bag drop by arrival, but not after the finish of play! The pace was not bad, but as there were mostly twosomes only out there, could have been much better. But there was no player’s assistant to watch the pace out there..
Overall – this is a nice and partly challenging course that can be recommended, but watch out for the rate, if you get a hot deal from Golfnow it is a bargain.
Beautiful and tough
The coarse was in great condition. There had been a lot of rain but coarse drains very well. Greens still recovering from hurricane but still very quick and fair. Will definitely be back can't wait
Enjoyable Round at The Legends
I am an owner at Orange Lake and I always enjoy this course. The only concerns were several discolorations around some greens (they did not affect play) and some greens had little or no grass in spots. A big improvement is the white sand in the traps (nicer to look at and play out of). I would recommend this course.
