Turnberry Isle's sportier test
A golf course does not have to be long to hole one's interest. Even though the Miller Course at Turnberry Isle CC tips out at barely 6,000 yards (and possibly less, after some resort facility expansions lop off a few yards from a few holes), it is a fun, pleasant round of golf. The challenge sort of goes opposite convention: the toughest stretch of golf is at holes 4 through 7, and then the course becomes more scoreable. The result is a round that'll have some burdie opportunities, as long as you can keep the ball in the fairway off the tee. It might be looked down on relative to the longer, better-known Soffer Course, but for the resort golfer, the Miller is its equal.
Upscale SoFla golf in an interesting environment
One factor that can add to the experience of playing a golf course is its sense of place. How does the course relate to its surroundings? What effect does this have on the experience?
There are two signifiers at the Soffer Course. The first is that it (along with the Miller Course) occupies an oasis-like tract of valuable real estate ringed by tall condominium towers, a familiar South Florida sight. The second is the vegetation around the Soffer course, which is lush and jungle-like, providing some sense of separation on a compact layout. That layout is solid but with parallel fairways where you'd best listen out for shouts of "Fore!" from adjacent fairways. The Paspalum turf is maintained just about perfectly - the fairways and greens are nice and firm. Holes like the second and 13th stand out for their fallaway greens that require a deft touch.
It's an expensive round (with mandatory forecaddie), but if you're considering it, that means you can afford it. You'll enjoy the service, the scenery and the golf.
High price for mediocre golf
Course was average quality and impacted by construction. You should tell players that there are not 18 holes to be played at booking. You should certainly tell them before they tee off so they are not lost on the course. Supposed to have fore caddie. Didn’t. Charged for a grade A exeriece delivered a grade D experience on a grade C course.
Outstanding track!
I loved this course from start to finish. The first couple of holes set you up for the rest of the course. It is a very challenging course yet fair. It is a beast when the wind blows. The course was in great shape. Some of the best greens I've putted on in Florida!!
Best Pass Pallum greens and fairways in all South Florida
Besides having the best pass pallum greens and fairways in all South Florida, they layout is impressive! Especially from the black tees (tips). There are a few new tee boxes that arent even on the scorecard yardages, which makes it even tougher and longer! If you get a chance to play those tees do it, or at least take the walk back there. Its also probably the prettiest courses in all Florida! The gardens and flowers are manicured to perfection! Prestin conditions all around! Awesome experience! Would love to practice there everyday!
Awesome!
Absolutely love the course! It's challenging yet fair. The Golf Sales Manager, Valeria, is super cool and if you ever need a last minute tee time for a large group like We did, she can get it done! Many Thanks to her!!
Excellent Courses
The Soffer course is more narrow and harder than the Miller course. Both are well maintained and a pleasure to play on. The amenities before and after your round are top notch. Definitely worth the money!
Great!
Everything is first class about this place. The course was in excellent shape.

Great Golf and a Great Resort
I am new to GolfAdvisor - was surprised to see only one review of Turnberry. I have been to Turnberry Isle (TI) twice. Once several years ago and June of 2015. The Soffer course is first rate in every respect. Great and challenging layout, beautifully landscaped, manageable over water holes, excellent condition and great staff.
Their is a second course, The Miller course which is a par 70 with 6 Par 3s and four par 5s. Great fun to play. So the two together make for a great golf getaway. Of course the Soffer course is the premier course.
The resort itself is just terrific. Everything about the resort is first class, the rooms are large with modern touches from the TV to the bathroom fixtures. Housekeeping is impeccable. The hotel common areas are terrific with two pools both beautifully landscaped. One pool for adults and a second pool complex with a waterfall, slides and a river pool. Two great restaurants and I do not mean good "hotel restaurants" these are serious restaurants: BURBON STEAK and CORSAIR BY SCOTT CONANT (Italian). Breakfast at Corsair is as good as it gets - so I recommend the breakfast and golf room deal.
Be aware that there is no beach - they have a beach club which requires a 10 minute drive (Shuttle) but I think it is closing down as TI is building a huge condo building on this property. So if beach is important not the place to stay. Too bad as everything else is great. For a nothing but golf getaway or for a lovely resort and family vacation, if beach is not key, this place is the best. Lastly if shopping is important to some in your party - Aventura Mall is across the street and Bal Harbor is about 2 miles away. Both very upscale particularly Bal Harbor. South Beach if you want some insanity is about a 30 minute drive. BTW when in the resort it is so well laid out and landscaped that you would never think you are surrounded by condos and a Mall across the street. Absolutely feels like a resort when you are on the property. So great for families in all respects.
Lastly - only a 20 minute drive from Fort Lauderdale AirPort.
Kevinb5124 thanks for your comments we really appreciate it!
A distinct pleasure
Beautiful and lush facility. Fairways groomed like carpets, greens are fair and fun. Lots of water and bunkers. Very friendly and accommodative staff. If you have the chance and the dough don't pass this by
Gunners1969 thanks so much for the kind words! Hope to see you again soon.
