Great Day
Course was in great shape and pace of play was perfect.
This is Logs go to Track
We always enjoy our days at Lake Jovita. Pace of play was perfect on this round. Always a pleasure for The LOGs
17 good golf holes
After you get past the ridiculous 1st hole (unless you can carry your driver 290 you will have a mid iron off the tee and another mid iron into the green) the other 17 holes are very good and well maintained.
Poor winter condition and maintenance.
They didn't reveal the poor condition of the greens and a temporary green on 18 of the South course until we checked in. I wouldn't have made the tee time if I knew the conditions. Winter dormancy is still evident on most tee boxes and greens. They have a disease on the greens as those were very short and the front nine had been aerated in the last week. The greens didn't hold. The putting surface was like the sidewalk. It is a beautiful layout. The bunkers were recently filled with the best sand. I wouldn't go back.
Great Courses at Lake Jovita
Played the north course last year, which was excellent. The starter recommended we also play the south course if we had a chance. So this year we took the hour and 1/2 ride from Bradenton and played the south course. Loved the layout and course aesthetics. The greens are extremely challenging, which I liked. The pro shop guys were extremely welcoming. Most of the course was in great shape. There were a couple of rough tee boxes and not much grass around some of the greens, due possibly to dormancy. There was a temporary green on #18 as sand traps were being worked on. Overall it really is a must play if you're in the area. IF it's windy I was told the south course is where you want to be. We, however had an ideal day. We shall return.
Prefer North Course when playing Lake Jovita
I prefer playing the North Course at Lake Jovita when choosing between the two. We played after a rainstorm and it was cart path only so took 4 1/2 hours. The course held up well with the rain with t-boxes, fairways and greens all being in great shape. The starter got us out early and slow play was not an issue. All staff were great and enjoyed a visit with Mike in the clubhouse waiting on the rain. This is one of the best places to play in the area that has reasonable rates for weekday t-times. This course should be a staple in the rotation.
Challenging but Fun to Play
The staff at Lake Jovita were friendly and helpful. The starter was great, had the t-box on schedule and moving along. There was no wait, and the round was completed in a little over 4 hours. Always enjoy playing Lake Jovita during our winter break. The t boxes were in pretty good shape and the greens were excellent which has been the case over the past few years. I found the bunkers to be not so good. The goal is to stay out of them but when you find yourself in one it is disappointing when you can tell they haven't been raked or cleaned up in quite a while and quite a few footprints. They are in the process of redoing the bunkers (#9) so maybe they will get to them over time. Plan to play here again next year.
Remarkable course!
Lake Jovita certainly lived up to its reputation as one of Tampa Bay’s best semi-private courses! The greens were in immaculate condition and rolled fast. The entire course was pristine and pace of play was exceptional. The staff could have been more welcoming and helpful (elitist vibes are unfortunately all too common at upper tier courses), but that was the only negative on a spectacular day of golf!
Pace of Play
No marshal leads to poor pace - we had a foursome in front of us and they were an almost two holes behind the group in front of them. They weren’t poor players either but took over 10 min to play a Par 3 when all golfers hit the green!
This course needs active rangers
Once again pace of play was horrible. They allowed a 2some to walk the course with an 1130a tee time.
Several other very slow groups with open holes in front.
A ranger that would at least prompt slow players to move along would help greatly.
Great layout, decent condition.
Bag drop staff excellent. Great bev cart staff. Hole and range closers need to be communicated via e-mail etc. Paying $125 - $190 should not come with staffing excuses.
Course is beautiful, but no carts? Really !!
As always the course is stunning. But after paying 120.00 each fpr a twosome. We arrived 45 minutes prior to tee time so we could warm up ,but was told no carts available. Had to walk a pretty a ways to range, then straight up hill tp putting green ....until finally a few minutes before tee time a cart was available. Not acceptable for the high price . Management should be embarrassed by this. Will definitely remember this when I decide where to play again .
