Nice Course
The course drains well. Nice course that can play well for all skill levels.
I love to play it as a high handicapper
Great
Great course. Light rain and the range was closed only hot 9 holes in nobody was in the club house to see about a rain check
Lely Golf and Country Club Mustang course 4 thumbs up!
I got to the Lely Golf course early and was able to warm up on the driving range before setting off to start the first of 18 holes. The staff were very attentive for as much interaction any golfer might have with staff at a golf course.
I had not played here before and with as many courses as they have they explained everything up front.
The course is in great condition for this time of year and with temps reaching over 90+ having complementary cold water on many holes was a nice bonus. They also have GPS course layout on the carts.
Summer time with a later tee time here means the pace of play can be faster or slower than usual. If you want.
I hiighly recommend playing this course. I plan to be back soon as well.
Mustang course
I really enjoyed my round. The course was in excellent shape. Even though it was cart path only, I didn't encounter any water issues while playing, fairway or rough. The greens were fast, but consistent, and played true to my lines. I shot one of my better scores, and will play there again.
Easy in easy off
Got to the course for my tee time played in less than 4 hours. Had provided water in cooler a nice touch.
This course was in great shape
The bad: no coffee or breakfast food available before the round . Also no ranger on the course to keep pace of play. There was a foursome in front of us that would not let us play through and there were 3 empty holes ahead of them
The good: greens were good and rolled out nicely. Everything was marked and was very fair. A little pricey for mid summer Florida golf but as my buddy says “supply and demand” and they were busy !!
Overrated Course with unputtably slow '8.5 on the stimp' greens
Drove down from Sarasota for a change of scenery and since it was a ~$60 hot deal, which is the cheapest I've seen. Wish I had stayed home to be honest, seeing as it was a 2 hour drive.
Played the tips, which didn't play nearly as long or anywhere near as challenging as the yardage and ratings suggested. That's fine. But what wasn't was the shaggy and horrifically slow condition of the greens, even for a dry Florida summer. There are $20 dog tracks with better speed here.
Of course, 95% of the people who play this course are high handicappers, so they won't even notice and might actually prefer it slower. Good players play better on faster greens, while hacks score better on shag rugs.
Apparently the Flamingo course is the better track, and I would hope so since there is nothing special about the Mustang. But I won't be back to try the former. Not with the ho hum value considering their summer green conditions, and certainly not during the Necrotic Naples winter pricing. I cant imagine how awful the pace of play would be here when it's packed.
Go play Old Corkscrew instead, or even the Eastwood/Fort Myers CC munis. The Mustang course is overpriced and overrated, unless you're a well-off hack.
Nice course
Booked tee time by myself and was joined by a friendly couple. First time playing all three but no groups behind us so we had some time to figure out the holes. Played the Flamingo 18 due to more positive reviews. Great practice areas, free range balls and good gps buggy. Very well maintained with beautiful lakes full of nice birds. Holes exciting and enough variation. Condition of the course good, greens fast en tricky. Enjoyed it playing here.
