About Mission Inn Resort & Club

The family-owned Mission Inn is one of Florida's friendliest and most value-forward resorts. With two golf courses, including the century-old El Campeon layout, it is an ideal setting for buddies trips and, at about 45 minutes from Orlando International Airport (MCO), remains convenient to reach from afar while removed from O-town's occasionally chaotic energy.

Check in set the tone for the day

I have time today.

When I checked in the “assistant golf pro” could not have been more dismissive of me. He said “tee time?”

I informed him I had a golf now tee time for 12:20. which he responded “Harrison?” And I said yes.

That was the last words he said to me. I asked for their smallest bucket of balls and he wrung me up for a medium bucket at 8.67. Again I asked for the smallest

When I approached the range, it was littered with non hit range balls making my purchase obsolete. I hit about 15 of them on the dirt range that looked like it hadn’t been replanted in 2 years.

After my great range session I checked in with the starter who informed me and 3 others we were next on the tee. So myself, a twosome, and another single approached the El Campeon course 10 minutes after our original tee time.

We approached the first tee where we were greeted with, another starter?

Who asked myself and the single if we had been asked to pair up which we both answered “no”.

He then proceeded to stare at us until we got out of the cart and paired up.

He then stood on the tee box as everyone of us teed off and commented on every shot.

What a great starter. And time

I WILL NEVER EVER EVER COME BACK HERE.

there is your review.

Also took 5 hours to play.

NOT WORTH IT.

Loved it the previous 2 times I'd played it

For context, any golf is good golf at this time of year for a Canadian escaping the snow and cold. We were staying south of Orlando and we had a +1 hour drive to get to Mission Inn. We arrived plenty early and paid the green fees for el Campion and then they told us that things were 40 minutes delayed and then the starter told us the pace of play was not great. Needless to say we were disappointed but, hey no snow!

Then when we were told that we probably would not get full 18 in before dark even though we paid full rates that was upsetting. Meanwhile the tees on the other 18 hole course were empty. I asked if we could play there and were were accommodated. We enjoyed the course even though there were a lot of bare patches in a lot of the fairways.. We got our 18 in before dark (1:30 tee time) and headed back to our holiday rental. Later I learned that I paid an extra $10 x 4 for the course we never got to play and we really ought to have been paying a further reduction because the delay put us on the tee so close to time for twilight rates. So had fun but a bit of a bitter aftertaste.

Pace of Play Nightmare

We were told by the starter our tee time was 25-30 minutes behind. We were at 1:48 scheduled, plenty of time normally for a full 18.

They PACKED the course, pace of play was horrendous and multiple groups on each hole. Even with groups quitting in front of us, we were not getting close to finishing. It was frustrating and I doubt uncommon.

Course was OK, unique for FL as there is a fair amount of elevation change. It was more of an Up this hole and Downward on that hole. maybe skewed by the pace of play, but I was not very impressed. The exception being a couple island greens that were fun...although I didn't have daylight to play all four.

Unlikely to play again while in FL.

Great Service. Fun Time

This was our first course playing after getting off the plane, so it was a little tighter than we thought, since we hadn't played for three or four months. But a really nice course and we had a great time. The people that Pro shop were amazing. United airlines messed up our golf clubs and didn't put them on our flights, so we missed our morning tea time, and the guy in the Pro shop was nice enough to let us play in the afternoon to make up for that. We were afraid we'd get charged for the morning but he was great! Super people!!

Excellent Florida Course

Staying in Orlando but wanted a quiet round away from the strip malls and theme parks. Course didn’t disappoint! Helpful staff and well marked course that made visitors feel at home. Would recommend and play again. Great value!!

Tight! NOT a Links, Wide Fairways Course

We just came down from New York, and had not played for 3 months. We thought the course would be pretty wide open, because the description said it was a links course with wider fairways. But each fairway was tree-lined and super tight and they even had a par-3 that had a tree in front of half the green. I'd say a lot of trees need to be trimmed or even taken down. Nice people, pretty smooth greens but not the type of course you want to play if you haven't played for a while.

As hard as a rock

The fairways were green only because they were painted with green fertilizer. The fairways and rough were so dry it was easier to putt from the ruff or fairway than try and hit a wedge. Layout leaves a lot to be desired. Back nine there is a par 4 that is 433 into the wind the right side of the tee is obstructed by a large tree, can’t get to the green from the left side of the fair way??

Poor condition, poor layout.

Worth the trip.

We played Las Colima’s and had a great time. Course is in good shape and we played straight thru as a two with no hold ups. It is approximately 46 minutes from Orlando but worth it. Looking forward to a return bisit

Beauty Meets Form and Function

This is THEe most beautiful, well groomed, and challenging course we've ever played.

Everything from the drive into the resort, the parking lot, the walk into the clubhouse, the staff, the cart attendent and the starter are a class above those where we've played before.

It wasn't on my bucket list but should be on yours.

P.S. Our "Pace of Play" was hampered by our twosome playing behind nothing but foursomes.
