The highly popular El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort consistently ranks in the top 10 of Florida's many golf courses. The course originally opened in 1917 and decades later in 1992, it was joined by a second 18-hole course, Las Colinas. El Campeon is not only one of the state's oldest golf courses but also one of its most challenging. The traditional design remains largely unchanged except for a renovation in 1926. The course winds through towering forests and numerous spring-fed lakes. The layout features water on thirteen holes as well as dramatic elevation changes that measure over 85 feet across the rolling fairways and undulating greens. The signature hole of the golf course is the par-5 17th. This lengthy double dogleg possesses more hazards than some entire courses do.

Great layout!

The course is always challenging with great layout and in good condition. However when it comes to the back nine which has couple difficult holes, the pace of play become very slow!

Always a great outing !

2 great courses at Mission Inn Resort ! El Campeon is the more scenic with its elevation changes that let you see so much of the course when up high. The routing is interesting and the holes and greens always challenging. I never get tired of either course, and fortunate they are only a 25min drive from the very south part of The Villages, where we reside. Great deals on GolfNow and be sure to check out their discounted senior rate ( 55+ ) on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Staff was extremely helpful. Driving range was tore up and had limited grass. Had to hit most shots from sand filled divot.

Most Tee boxes were in terrible shape.no grass again and teeing off on sand.

Bunkers were inconsistent. Some were re-done and others were without sand

Given a recent streak of cold weather and lack of rain, El Campeon wasn’t having its best day condition-wise but I understand the circumstances.

I got a deal online and felt that was a fair price. Assuming the conditions improve dramatically, I would say the regular greens fee is fair to moderately high.

The layout is fantastic. Great variety of holes. Plent of uphill and downhill shots. Very challenging par 3s. And the finishing stretch of 15 to 18 is excellent (good luck on 17!).

Everyone I encountered was very friendly and helpful.

I was the first off the tee this day so the pace was great!

If/when I’m back in the area I would gladly play El Campeon again, and would love to add their Los Colinas course to my itinerary to make it a 36 hole day.

The pace of play was painful. There was a foursome a two groups ahead of us who played extremely slow. No rangers out on the course to help with this issue. Otherwise, the course was fun.

Great course, bad starter, otherwise 5 stars

Had a 9:00 time but frost delay closed course until 9:30. Understandable. Checked in with El Campeon starter as a single, which is what I reserved. Once play was allowed I waited in the queue for my turn. Asked who I was paired with and was told I'd be playing alone. I mentioned there were about 6 foursomes ahead of me (he corrected me and told 2 of them were threesomes) and I would be waiting on every shot. PLUS, there was probably another dozen groups anxious to tee off behind me. I asked if there were any singles or twosomes I could hook up with and he informed me there was a single with a 9:56 time and I could join him. Keep in mind it is now well past 10. I told him it would make more sense to move the single up to me instead of me having to wait further. Finally agreed.

I just find it remarkable that the tee sheet there was that poorly managed....

Not to bad

I was worried about this course after reading some of the reviews, but I’m not sure what the complaints are. I’ve played all the courses in Central Florida this winter. The course is in good shape. The greens were gray, and the fairways were lush. The roof was just the rough. I got a hot deal so it was worth the money. And compared to what other course of they’re charging it’s worth it.

Excellent

The course was very accommodating and super nice. I had made a mistake of our tee time and didn’t realize until I got to the clubhouse check in that I had already missed my Pre-paid GolfNow tee time. The gentleman at the counter said no problem the starter will help us out. The starter said that he would get us out shortly and was able to. The course is in excellent condition and a challenging course with all the elevation changes. Greens roll true, but can be fast down hill so try and place your approach shots. Would recommend to anyone who wants a memorable experience
