Disappointed !
Front nine, tee boxes and fairways all dried up and greens so-so.
Back nine in much better condition. Some holes are quirky and the shaping of the greens borders on the ridiculous on many holes.
Conveniently located and a great place to play
Challenging layout with ample room for drives large multiple greens that are very fast
Enjoyed - Make Sure You Hit the Right Parts of the Green
Played on a Friday afternoon in January. Lots of sand adjacent to the fairways, so straight tee shots are important. The biggest takeaway were the greens - upturned bowls and significant undulations. You need to be in the right spot to putt and be careful not to roll off. It's a course that requires maximum attention as you approach, and are on, the greens.
Pace of play was good (less than 4 hours), the staff were excellent, and the driving range/putting green good.
That weekend I also played Panther Lake (top quality championship course) and Falcon's Fire (nice, less interesting than Mystic Dunes).
Fast greens and challenging layout
The Fairways have ample landing room off the tea. Fairways have grass , but are not over seeded
Extremely fast greens with lots of slope and undulation.

Excellent course condition great friendly staff really enjoyable course to play for the money
Back 9 greens are very tough
Very nice course to play during our stay. Greens are tough and the course was in decent condition with all thr holiday traffic.
Much improved
Played 2 years ago and wasn't impressed with the greens
Today's greens are much better keep up the good work
Not Enjoyable - Never Again
I played this course about 15 years ago and didn't like it. After a friend suggested I give it another try, I did. My impression is the same.
There are far too many ridiculous holes where you can hit a good approach shot and have the ball roll off the green. One par 5 has an approach shot to a green where the back portion is 4 feet below the front portion with a rollercoaster hill in between. On the new 10th green (previously the 1st) the reverse was true with the plateau at the back. I was ON THE GREEN but couldn't see the actual hole because of the STEEP 5 foot rise up to the plateau where the pin was set.
The cart kept reminding riders to fill their divots EVERY TIME you entered the fairway. Once or twice would have been enough, not every single par 4 and par 5.
The cart also encouraged golfers to pre-order food and snacks so that they would be ready between nines, but there was never any directions or signage to where to pickup the order on the long ride from the 9th green to the 10th tee.
Others might like it, but I didn't and doubt I will be back.
Golf Review only
Course was overall very tricky with the greens. Course condition was bare. Fairways need work along with overall health of the rough. Greens were decent for this time of year.
Dune bunkers have lots of sand almost to much.
Waited 40 min for a cart so we teed off late.
Also no point of ordering food before hand to pick up on turn if it’s not going to be ready. Waited 10’min for the food once we got inside.
Tough First Round, Second Will Be Better
I really enjoyed my round. Lucky for me, I was paired with a couple who knew the course. It is a tough course that is not intuitive from the tee box and focuses you to place your drive on the correct side of the fairway. I am thankful for my sand game since there are plenty of bunkers and waste areas. The greens are fair but tough depending on what level the pin is set, and the forced carries provided a great challenge. I will be back next month and will bring a buddy. I can't wait to tackle this challenge again.
Surprisingly impressed
I’m an 8 handicap and enjoy paying extra to have a nicely manicured golf course. Here is my review.
I was staying away from playing here because of the reviews about the gimmicky greens but after playing with a few guys at LBV they recommended it. The staff were all friendly and polite. The course exceeded my expectations. I really enjoyed the layout. It’s was a typical resort course, forgiving but challenging at the same time. Now when it comes to the greens, yes there are a few that have the most extreme slopes I have very seen on any golf course in my 45 years of playing. Having said that, the portions with the extreme slopes really didn’t come into play. Playing a few courses around Orlando I have noticed how flat the greens are in general so I can see why some of the reviews are the way they are. The greens would not stop me from returning. As I said previously the extreme portions didn’t come into play. I would return and recommend anytime. For a comparison I also played Hawks Landing which is pristine from start to finish. I could n’t recommend hawks landing enough. I also played Disney Lake Buena Vista and was disappointed with the overall maintenance of the course. I’ll describe it as messy. I also played Falcons Fire which was a cheaper course and reflected in the over maintenance, but it was well worth it. Hope this helps.
Tough Greens
The course was in good shape. The greens were fast and had a lot of undulations. It was very tough putting.
Welcome back
Played this course a ton over the years. It’s had its ups and downs. Drainage had always been an issue. Staff over the last two years has made some incredible improvements - and now it’s the only course around that drains. For the most part, the courses around here are all the same. This course is different. All 18 holes are very unique. It’s not the Ritz or Nona - but it’s a great course with great staff and an awesome value.
Not a flat spot on the greens
This was the first time I had played Mystic Dunes in about eight years, and I sort of remember the conditions being better back then. Fairways and rough were in decent condition, but overall it wasn’t the most aesthetically pleasing course you’ll ever find, as it just seems the upkeep just isn’t there. I have never played greens like this before and I doubt I ever will see of course with greens like that. The challenge wasn’t so much the course layout as it was trying to survive with a two-putt which was often impossible with the severe slopes on the greens. Fortunately, we only paid $25 through a group golfer promotion, but I would probably go back knowing now of what to expect when approaching the greens.
Enjoyed the challenges of the slopping greens, very challenging….
Fun round
Course was fun to play. Need to be in the right spot on the greens, tons of slop and run offs. Will be back.
