Decent for current pricing
Course is closing Mar-Oct 2024 and they’ve started work. All rough is killed so it is just dead grass around the tees/fairways/greens. Greens were over seeded as well so were super slow and made it a bit difficult to get a feel for putts. If you’re looking for a decent round of golf and aren’t taking the game too seriously then this could work, but don’t expect a beautiful resort course right now, it is simply not there.
Wait for the renovation to be completed
Course is a very pretty layout and the staff are excellent.
However the course condition was almost unplayable. Not just greens, but tee boxes, bunkers, and fairways were not worth the $75.
Only the 18th hime had manicured a tee box, mown fairways with actual grass, and a green that’s was puttable. The rest of the course was heavily sanded and like playing from a packed down fairway bunker. And many of the tee boxes were not mown.
Should be worth a look after the renovation, but until then save yourself the $75. (Or play the Sandy par 3 course as that was in excellent condition)
Avoid at all Costs
Absolutely disgusted by the ethics of management. They are starting to do a complete renovation of the entire course and the greens have been over seeded and are more or less a carpet, if not the first cut of rough at a US Open. The fairways are bare and have been painted. In fact, the fairways were infinitely better suited to be the greens. That’s not hyperbolic either - paying $80 to play here was like getting catfished by a golf course. There was no warning of this on the TeeOff app or on the course website. You could not hit the ball hard enough to make a putt. I’m not going to ask for my money back, I’m going to demand it. The need to shut down or pay people to play here it’s so bad. Criminal activity.
Greens are atrocious
Beautiful course but absolutely not worth the going price given the greens aren’t even greens. Discount the price until it’s fixed.
Just wait
Wait till it reopens after the shutdown. Greens were an 1” tall today😂😂 shag carpets and not an exaggeration
Preparing for course closure
I have played this course many times in the past and love Oak Marsh. They are preparing the course to totally redo it starting in March and have already killed the fairways. The back 9 fairways have been repainted, but the grass is still dead underneath therefore creating very tight lies on all fairway shots. Greens are in good shape, but overall not worth the $105 fee. I'd probably be willing to pay $50-$55, but no more right now. Can't wait to play again in 2025 after it's been redone.
Had a great time
These guys always treat their patrons right. They are very professional. Had a great time with friends. Course was a bit dry. Greens were a mystery but so good.
I will go back
I really enjoyed this course. The staff members were all top-notch. The conditions of the course were impeccable. I couldn’t have asked for a better day.
The only improvement I would make is better and more sand in the bunkers
Needs TLC
The greens were splotchy and generally slow. The layout was interesting but some very short holes. I was expecting a far better quality course for the $150 greens fee. Staff was excellent but the course conditions were really disappointing. I
A pitch and putt course
This is a beautiful 10 hole pitch and putt course, that is in premium condition, possibly because it is empty due to the price. None of the holes are over 120 yards, so for $55 it is quite a lot for about an hours worth of golf, but if you have an hour to kill and don't mind the expense then this little course is a lot of fun to play and the amenities and staff are spot on.
Great course and staff
Had a great time, starter let us go a few minutes early, very helpful and happy staffers. It can get pricey, and found out it will be shut down soon for renovations to entire course. A must play if in the area. Was hoping to get my northern buddies down here in next month or two and play this track. Hope they keep it affordable to public.
Nice, but showing its age
This is a nice course with 4 or 5 holes right on the marsh with long views out across the wetlands. It is a classic low country course: tight from tee to green with small greens. You don't need to be long, but you must be straight. If you struggled with the driver like I did, it will be a long day.
Also, the bermuda grass on the greens seems like an older strain that's very coarse. There are better strains that roll smoother and are less grainy. For the price ($100 on GolfNow), I expected better.
I liked Amelia River and The Golf Club of Amelia Island better.
