Tricky Course
Glad we played but not a favorite. Conditions and staff are excellent. Pace was good even though we were a twosome. We just don’t like the crazy set up on some of the holes. 200+ yd par 3’s, for example. Also from a layout standpoint, there are a number of greens where the cart path cuts in front of the group behind you so you can get hit if the group doesn’t know you are going to drive in front of them. I feel for any short hitter on this course. The 18th tee on the card is a 108 shot from some of the tees. But, it was set up as166 all carry. A short hitter doesn’t have 166 in the air.
Excellent course, but needs rangers
Excellent course in great condition. Pace of play was slower than what should be expected. Rangers needed on course as the group in front was out of position and a bunch of hackers. I expected better from a “resort “ course on pace of play. The island green 18th from the tips is 200 yards of fun!
Invest in a course ranger
Lovely little course. But.... When it takes 4:45 hours it's a disaster. Shoot a 125 - fine. But when you are lying 4 and 200 yards out from the pin, you loose the right to plumb bob your putts.!!!
Get a ranger and keep pace of play up to the absolute loveliness of the course standards.
Please...
Great layout but needs some work
Greens roll true but they are still healing from a late summer punch. Don’t hold very well so be careful going after the pins. Bunkers have too much sand in them. Some tee boxes haven’t been treated and to pay 150$ no thanks. Keep taking care of it and it should turn around. Greens look much lighter than usual so give them some nutrients and water.
Staff was terrific!
If you get the chance, play Hawks Landing
Second time playing the course and didn’t disappoint. The course had only been open a couple of days following hurricane Ian and was in fantastic condition. Pace of play was good, got a bit busy over the last few holes but still managed sub four hours, which for a busy course was acceptable. We really enjoyed it and will play again.
Hawks Landing with a view
Considering the effects from hurricane Ian the week before, the course was in good condition. The greens are still recovering and the fairways were in great condition. This is a beautiful course with a mix of difficult and challenging holes. Smart play pays of. The pace for the front 9 was slow due to the two guys in front (we were a foursome pushing them) however once they left the pace on the back 9 made up time and we finished in just over 4 hrs.
Amazing Layout
Course was in great condition. Challenging layout. It’ll test all parts of your game.
Great condition
After hurricane Ian passes by, two days after the course was already back in great condition. Well done guys!
Great course, great amenities
Love this course. My 3rd time playing and I will be coming back. Not totally happy with the hole changes, but I still enjoy it.
First Time Here
Fun course. Friendly staff. GPS located carts with distance to pin and hole layout was awesome. Greens were a little sandy, but otherwise it was a fantastic course.
Nice Track
Hawk’s Landing is appropriately named since we saw several hawks and an osprey during our round. Even though the greens had been recently aerated as noted by Golfnow, they rolled true albeit a tad slow. Overall, the rest of the course is in pretty good shape. While we were cart path only on a number of holes, the course was not that soft and the lies were good. The layout is terrific with the exception of the 18th hole which is a par 3. I’m not a big fan of par 3 finishing holes. As a stand alone 3 par, however, the 18th is very challenging with a forced carry over water to an island green similar to the 17th at TPC Sawgrass. Anyway, despite my aversion to par 3 finishing holes, I look forward to playing HL in the future and would recommend it to other golfers.
Great course
I really like this course but I think making the 18th a par three island green is a mistake. Not a good finishing hole.
Excellent condition
Everything was great about this course except for finishing on a par 3
Also warming up on Mats does nothing to help know how you are hitting the ball that day
Overall enjoyed it
Very Challenging
Truly challenging course if you don’t keep them straight. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens in excellent shape. Water on 14 of 18 holes, but there are a few scoring holes to help out with the errant lost ball. Number 18 is the signature hole that plays very tough when a gust front moves in as you’re approaching the tee box. I lost my first battle with the course, but will definitely visit again.
