How the mighty have fallen
We first played the Plantation over 20 years ago on our first Florida golf trip and many times in the intervening years. We had always enjoyed it's classic Florida layout and sharing the course with all manner of fauna from Ospreys to Gators. Sadly while the layout remains the broadly the same (except for the ruination which turned the old first into a driving range some years ago) the condition is woeful. It is clear that aside from replacing a number of the cart paths last year little has been put into the course itself. it appears that the present owners have little interest in maintaining what was one of the nature coast's best little tracks...which is rather sad...
My day at plantation
My day began with a par and a 43 on the front nine and finish with a 47 five hour round very slow big outing there on the course doesn’t attract good golfers so lotta duffers I’m a patient guy and I will experience this type of play at Bethpage State Park home of the Black course but I had nowhere to go no one To see and I had a good day course is flat as a pancake an old course original to the area God bless all golfers
Enjoyable round
I like the Plantation course. I’ve only played it a couple times. Being unfamiliar with it there are a couple are a places where you have to pay attention where you’re driving to get to the correct next tee!
The course was in good shape for this time of year. Greens were pretty good. Staff were courteous. I’ll definitely play there again.
Where is the etiquette?
Love playing here, because the course is in great shape. But....the last two times I played here, the locals/members/mafia dig their collective heels in and won't acknowledge and/or let a single play through. The latest issue happened yesterday, as I had a 1:38 Tee Time. I check in at 1:20. Man at the desk looks a little frazzled, and keeps looking out at No 1 Tee. I look over and there are 2 groups of four players (about 10 carts), and no Starter. He tells me my Tee Time is ahead of all of them, to go get my clubs and, well......good luck. The looks I got as I tried to drive up to the Tee Box were less than inviting. I couldn't possibly navigate through the parking lot (the cart path around the Tee Box). So I had no choice but to watch 8 golfers tee off, knowing I was a single and would have to wait. Surely, as the holes played out there would be an opportunity to let a single through. That's where I was wrong; at no point did the group in front even acknowledge I was standing on every box and fairway behind them. After 4 hours and 14 holes, I couldn't stand the ignorance and arrogance. I left and am quite sure the 2 groups ahead of me watched me drive off and felt like they 'won'. Why should anyone be penalized because the show up to play as a single? I would have played in any group of 2 or 3, but there wasn't any. What a bunch of pompous Jerks!!
very nice course with moderate difficulty course was in very good shape
Good test of golf
My friends and I enjoyed our day. The course was in fine condition and had challenging doglegs. Will play there again.
The course was very swampy
The course was very swampyThe greens are in good shape but I really didn’t care for the course them lunch
The course was nice and a challenge to play they need to have a starter and do a better job of getting people started at their assigned tee times.
Nice course!
When we arrived the parking lot was full and there were carts lined up to tee off, but when our tee time came up we teed up and were able to keep moving the whole round. The greens were fast and true. The fairways were in decent shape for this time of year.
Confusing layout
Course needs more signage to guide first timers. A lot of wet areas. Short course from senior tees. Greens accounted for most of the difficulty with severe slopes. Water hazards on about half the holes. Made some new GOLFNOW friends.
Lots of water
Challenging yet playable for the average golfer I have played here a couple of times enjoyed both times.
Nice mid level course
Very friendly staff and easy check in. Carts were clean and they gave me my own cart in spite of being in a foursome. The course was in good condition. Fairways were overseeded and greens were smooth and medium speed. The only negative was the driving range. Had to hit off of mats that were in very poor condition and were limited to 170 yard club.
Pleasantly surprised
Was impressed with the condition since the hurricane came through. Greens were smooth and true. Tees and fairways had good winter over seed.
