Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
About Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
Somewhat overshadowed by Sawgrass, this classic inn and resort predates it by several decades. Two charming golf courses have benefited from the design expertise of local resident and experienced architect Bobby Weed, and the new Lodge recently increased the resort's accommodations complement by several dozen rooms. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club should be near the top of the list for visitors seeking a sense of Old Florida.Facts

RW
The course layout is great, but conditions lead something to be worked on. Particularly the sand traps, which are closer to being weed bunkers and not sand traps. Greens were running fairly well, although again in need of more care. I’d recommend they have members volunteer to take care of a green each and they go out and fix all those unrepaired ball marks. I tried to fix a few each hole, but there were just too many. BTW, the rough is tough. Best to keep your ball in the fairway or you may have trouble finding your ball.
Picturesque but slovenly
Beautiful setting with typical challenge of finding balls out of the fairway further aggravated by old cuttings. Greens OK. No sand trap maintenance in what appears to be quite a while.
Exceptional customer service at desk and snack bar.
Terrible shape
It's time to close the book on RW. The course is in terrible shape. Knee deep rough, ankle high crab grass growing in the bunkers. Greens are barely holding on to grass. Tee boxes overgrown. Obviously there isn't enough money to maintain the course. If I was a resident or a member I would be looking to move.
They have definitely made improvements.
First private, Paul Azingers home course when it first opened, then semi and then private again and now semi again. Great course that has been neglected at times over the years. The new management and the members seem to be determined to make this again, one of the premier courses in Manatee County but they still have some work to do. I do have to give them major props for supporting local youth golf programs.
Back on my Play List
Course is in great shape, rough is a little high but I am attributing that to the rain..
Greens and tee boxes are in great shape. Staff was was great. I stopped p l aying here for a while but they have upped thier game. They are back in my rotation.
Tough course.
Fun but tough course. If you miss the fairway you are in trouble because the rough is high. The layout is great and challenging.
Much much improved
Fairways and greens excellent! Rough is lush, not super high, but hard to find ball.
Suggest in most cases not trying to hit a fairway metal out. Use an iron and get in position for shot to green.
Definitely recommend this course!!!
Good value
Greens were in good shape. The course had lots of grass and it was green everywhere. Only downside waa that the bunkers were horrible.
Fun Round
I would consider this one a little “hidden gem.” The staff is very friendly and the course is a fun yet challenging layout. The rain has helped all courses in the area but it is quite apparent here.
The fairways are in good shape, the bunkers do need some attention, but for me, I really like that the rough is a challenge. As for the greens, I feel this is where the difficulty lies. They are in nice shape, tough to read and vary in speed depending on time of day or where you land. It really helps you focus.
The only thing that I can complain about is the lack of water. They have cooler stations but no coolers. If you are between holes and run out of water that you brought or bought, then you are out of luck. With the summer heat, this one thing could make a huge difference. Besides this, it is an excellent course and fun to play. I will easily return for many more rounds.
Cart Path
Unfortunately it was cart path only at the start of the round. This can be very frustrating when each golfer hits there ball it opposite areas
Tough course
Very challenging course with lots of water hazards
Fun to play..
Wanted to play here for a while
Greens were in good shape
Fairways had grass
No sand in bunkers….more like wastelands
Get off fairway and grass was non existent / needed mowing
Course was in better shape than when I played in two years ago
Good track, undesirable conditions
Enjoyed the challenging layout this course offers despite the obvious lack of upkeep on the tee boxes, in many areas of the fairways and most apparently in the sand traps that are/were full of vegetative growth (weeds mostly.)
The greens were in good shape and were the saving grace along with the layout — doglegs, and several water features.
The new Clubhouse looks inviting however I didn’t make it in for drinks and lunch, post-round.
Woefully slow
Grabbed a great Hot Deal for this course. Played here 2 previous times under 4 hours each round, however this time course was a bit more crowded but our foursome had to wait every shot. The holdup seemed to be the group 2 in front of ours as there were open holes ahead. Unfortunately there were no on course marshals to keep play moving. This round took over 5 hours! Totally unacceptable.
Fairways need a lot of work.
Don’t understand why they don’t work on fairways and rough more. This would be a premier facility with some work.
