Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
About Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
Somewhat overshadowed by Sawgrass, this classic inn and resort predates it by several decades. Two charming golf courses have benefited from the design expertise of local resident and experienced architect Bobby Weed, and the new Lodge recently increased the resort's accommodations complement by several dozen rooms. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club should be near the top of the list for visitors seeking a sense of Old Florida.Facts

Perfect Greens
Great older course with a nice layout. I've only played here a couple times because it takes a little effort to get to it. The greens are the best part of the course, they roll smooth and true, but the grain makes them hard to read. It is not overly long or particularly difficult, but fun and challenging. Fairways were a bit dry for this time of year. rough was cut pretty short, so it wasn't very penalizing. Overall I had a good time, and will come back if the price is right.
Course was in good shape greens soft & putted true. This was my first time playing the course being a private course & a little pricey for summer I expected more
Another Great Experience
This is a really great course for the money. The course was in great shape and played very evenly. with many different tee boxes, the yardages are good for most all golfers.
There are a couple of holes (2 & 10) that could be designed a bit better or at least additional information provided to let you know how to play the hole. I did not see a yardage book but that doesn't mean there wasn't one.
Best suggestion: Bring a GPS as there are a few shots you might want to play over if you knew you could carry.
All-in-all, very nice and will play it again whenever I can.
Excellent layout , nice greens!
Played in a scramble, very nice layout, greens were in excellent shape. Will get my weekend golf group to play here next summer for sure!
Great Day
Great day, the golf course was in good shape except for the greens which were aerated last week. One of the best courses I have played in the Bradenton area.
Solid Course - Wish I Knew About Aerated Greens
I play this course about once / month, and enjoy it quite a bit. The staff is always friendly, and for the most part, the course is consistently in good shape.
I was very disappointed that I was not made aware the course had been aerated...I would've made my reservations elsewhere. Often times Golf Now informs you when the course is in that condition, but it was not called out in this instance.
I'll continue to play this course, but I hope the communication between Golf Now and River Wilderness will improve moving forward.
Great course
You'll love playing this course. Challenging yet beautiful set within the wonderful homes of River Wilderness. No wonder my husband refers to this as Paradise.
3 1/2 Hours to play back nine
It took 1 hour 15 minutes for 3 of us to complete the front nine. When we got on the back nine we had 2 foursomes in front of us. One in the fairway the others on the green. We were told they were members and so I guess you can tee off on the back whenever you feel like if your a member. Neither group would let us through. Ridiculious. The greens have still not recovered from being punched, so putting was tough. This is a nice course but not at almost 5 hours.
Just punched
they just punched the greens and the fairways I would stay away for about a month. Would have been nice of they would have informed golfnow of the conditions.
A bit disappointed
The price was great at $20, but that should have tipped me off. We did get there a few minutes late for our tee time, but the staff was very accommodating. Range balls were FREE. However, when I went to practice putting, the greens were aerated and no mention of this on GOLFNOW or by the staff o the phone. I drove 45 min to discover this on my own. We were sent behind a foursome that we waited on each hole. NO RANGER. Thankfully, I invited a father and his son (members) to join us. He apologized for the aeration and was going to bring this up at his member meeting. He was so apologetic that he bought lunch for us; way too kind! Thanks 'Tall T'. Water stations were plentiful, but a yardage book, GPS, or local knowledge were required. Pin positions using colors was a first for me, but it worked! The course layout was good and fairly challenging. Most tee boxes were ok as well, but a couple needed some attention. The bunkers could use some nice sand, but maybe they were wet from irrigation or recent showers? Clubhouse staff was very attentive as we made the turn.
Just punched greens/fairways
Usually a fun course. I should have called ahead. They just punched greens and probably not real playable for at least a week. They've had a lot of rain so cart path only and range closed.
River Wilderness 7/07/2014
Played late afternoon and had the course to myself. Course was in usual good/excellent conditions. There was time to warm up on the practice tee (no extra charge for range balls) and green .
Very nice layout
This is a really nice layout in a gated community, and has lots of trees, minimal water for a Florida coast course. The greens had been punched a couple weeks ago, so they were a little bumpy, but still played well. I played two days in a row, the first day was a little tough because there are some misses you need to know, but the second day was great.
Fun to play
Everything about this coarse was awesome. The only improvement needed is the cart paths are rough in spots.
River wilderness
Greens were very nice.....fast and smooth. Layout quite beautiful with many large mossy trees over the entire course. Would definitely play again.
Good Day
Greens had healed from aerification well.
Had course to ourselves and had an enjoyable round.
Greens will get much quicker but still putted and held very well.
Will be back soon.
Layout is good
Greens are still to bumpy from being punched. Played with a couple of members from there who helped out with course knowledge
Great course
A previous rain made play cartpath only. All in all not a bad day, nice layout pretty course, made for a nice day of golf. No cart service for drinks. Still like it for the price. I'll go back!
Ths course layout is great
course layout was very good and the conditions were good. With the greens aeration almost complete, this course will be excellent to play.
good practice facities include range balls
Mostly wide fairways except on one hole. Fairways could use some watering and other attention.Ample water hazards and sand traps around greens and in a few fairways to catch the mishit ball. Greens are large, but had not recovered from a recent aeration. Greens were running about 9 or 8, which is slow and greens were very bumpy.
