Saddlebrook Resort
About Saddlebrook Resort
Since 1981, Saddlebrook Resort has been a go-to-destination for golfers, located just 30 miles north of Tampa International Airport. The resort's two original Arnold Palmer designs are being redesigned in 2025 into a 27-hole combination by Rees Jones. This entirely new playing experience will pair with a new 13-acre practice facility, home to a two-sided range, and golf school to engage golfers. A world-class tennis facility is another major attraction of this resort. A sweeping $92 million transformation will reimagine the 451-room resort from the ground up – positioning it among the nation’s premier leisure and sports resorts.Facts

Nice course...still a little wet...
Course as ravaged by rain a few weeks ago. It’s still got quite a few spots that need to dry up. It’s still a great course, though. Highly recommend it.
A+
Literally cannot be beaten especially for the price
Still a bit soggy
Course is usually in great shape, but the rains over the last few weeks have kept the course saturated. Greens have a few bad spots, but generally roll well.
No rakes in bunkers which is pretty routine these pandemic days, but bunkers were in good shape. Need some sand in the carts to repair divot holes. I'd be happy to bring my own cup / scoop.
A forgiving but challenging course
Not long but challenging with generous fairways and testy greens. Unfortunately we dealt with a week of rain which made the course very wet. We will definitely be back!
Wet. Wet. Wet.
Courses was wet and muddy. Lost three balls in fairway in first five holes. Great course except during rainy season. I’ll return when it dries.
Golf Now Failed
I prepaid for a "Hot Deal" from Golf Now a week in advance of playing the Palmer Course at Saddlebrook Golf Course. When we arrived there was a junior tournament in progress and the pro shop told us that they had contacted Golf Now weeks ago about the tournament and to not book tee times for that weekend(Sept 12-13, 2020).
Did Golf Now contact me to let me know that they made a mistake and will refund me my $211 for four rounds of golf? No and there seems to be no way to speak to a human and their live "chat now" function doesn't work.
I hope to finally get a refund. I had to write this review to actually get to tell Golf Now about my issue.
Excellent course, on the short side
First time playing this course. Under 6300 yards from the back tees, so on the short side but the course is still challenging enough. Not very many flat fairways, rolling with plenty of traps and water. Pace was right on through 12 holes, then it got backed up a bit. I guess that will happen with a par 3 18. Finished in 4 hours though, Pace on this course should be about 3.5 hours. Course was in excellent condition.
First time at Saddlebrook
Nice layout, a little wet in places but overall a great day.
Put this one on your list!
Great conditions. Small greens. First 3 holes are TOUGH! Eases up om back nine. Good golfers will appreciate the design.
BeautifulButOverbookedCourse
We love this course. We only golfed 9 holes because by hole 9 we were waiting in 2 groups in front of us. A large group teed off late morning and perhaps open play started too soon after. We left after 9 because we didn't want to wait on every hole.
Great Course but not what I expected
The course is a great layout and in excellent condition. Not as wet as I was expecting considering how much rain it got. It’s been 25 years since I played the Palmer Course. The greens were not as fast as Pro Shop stated. Course had received two days of rain but a lot of the greens had sand on them like they had been aerated recently. Not told this at Pro Shop. Greens were very slow.
Staff was very friendly but could have been more helpful considering how hard it is to find your way around. It did take us 30 minutes longer to play due to heat (96 degrees). Pro Shop was closed at 4:30 and no shuttle available. Therefore wasn’t sure where to leave golf carts. No signs indicating where to return carts.
However, at this price, I was expecting more. Carts were old and outdated. I expected GPS on the carts. Other courses at this price have some complementary tees or bottled water but nothing like that here. We did have a great time and enjoyed it. The course is challenging but not sure if we will be back at this price.
Good course & condition but I expected more.
The course is a great layout and excellent condition. Not even as wet as I was expecting given other reviews. Staff was very friendly but could have been a bit more helpful considering how hard it is to find your way around this enormous property.
However, at this price point, I was expecting better. Carts were old, outdated, and small. I have apps on my phone but expect GPS on the cart at this price. I don't have a huge bag but another wouldn't have fit next to it if I had been playing with someone else, let alone enough space for another person. Other courses at this price have some complementary tees and other little touches but nothing like that here.
I had a good day since it was off season and midweek pricing but would have been very disappointed if I paid there full price.
