Pleasant Surprise
What a wonderful course to play,The front and back play differently. The course was in great shape...
Great value through Golf Now
Scenic course in great condition. The cart paths were in rough shape on some holes but my friend and I had a fun round of golf and that's all that matters.
This course can be challenging
The course was a challenge and it is considered one of the better courses in Miami.
Great Course
one of the good course's in Miami, but too far of a drive.
Improved
Played this course 2or3times before
Better shape then ever green very good
Not fancy but solid
Good value
in good shape worth the golfnow deal
we played during the week and we flew through. green and bunkers in good shape but on the slow side.
Miami's Best kept secret!
Beautiful golf course from fairways to greens. Great for the price. would love to play here at least twice a month
Two completely different nines!
This is a fun track with pretty quick greens with lots of contour in them. They are surprisingly smooth though, so you can make some putts if you get the speed and line.
You finish the front thinking "OK, I can do this" and then you go to the back nine, feel the wind blowing at 20, and notice there is water in play, left, right, short and long on almost every hole.
If you can't hit it straight, or don't know your carries, you might get a little frustrated on the back. Just bring plenty of balls, enjoy the view and have good time.
Nice Classic Layout
The greens were in great shape. I look forward to playing the track again.
Wet
The back side of this course has always had a problem with drainage. The greens were rolling well but a little slower than I remember them. Overall a great test of golf.
First time playing it since renovation of greens and traps
I was really looking forward to playing this course since it had been renovated, but unfortunately there had been lots of rain the days prior and they only let us play the front nine twice... The back nine is more challenging so I'll have to come back to try again. Greens in good shape.
I got a great rate via Golf Now. Would not pay the $100/person otherwise...
Great Steak House in the facility. The original Shula's Steak House !!!!
Has a nice traditional hsitotical feel.
Had a very nice time. Shot my second best score ever.
Great conditions on the course but
the range is in terrible shape. They don't let you drive your cart to the range and the ball machine wasn't working so you had to lug your clubs and a bucket of balls across the parking lot and back. he girl at the desk wasn't very friendly either not ever looking at me while ringing me up or saying have a nice day. The course however was in great shape. I really like the layout with a few challenging holes. My only complaint would be the back 9 tends to flood.
Disappointed!
When I made the tee-time, I was not told that the back nine was closed. The staff said I could play the front nine twice. The pace of play was very slow and not managed by the rangers. The club house is dated. Players have to walk a good distance to a practice range where you can only hit off mats. Overall, a disappointing experience. I will not return.
Over rated
I have to be very honest here and say that this course is over rated for the prices...the course itself is in average condition, some fairways have crab grass all over the place (e.g. #8).
Due to recent (too much) rain, the back nine were closed, so we played the front twice.
I cannot see how this course charges $90 or more for the morning tee times, not worth it...other courses in the area are less costly and in much better condition.
This part of comment for golfnow: You should now when courses are airated and/or greens plugged and state it as part of the booking process.
Shula's greens were recently plugged(about a week, according to staff)...it would have been nice to know prior to booking.
Somz y'win
Good scenery, but the cart path could use a little smoothing. Some fairways were too dry--some too wet. The staff was very friendly and the golfers too! It's too often a single female golfer falls prey to mean golfers who seem to golf for the pleasure of intimidating others! The carpet in the locker room had that smell that old municipal golf locker rooms have--easily taken care of by using a pricier brand of disinfectant, I wold guess. The bar was classy, and I like that sort of ambiance, but I also like to be social, and no one was there on this Saturday at 5pm.
This course has a very good location
This first 9 holes are very good the second are not in very good conditionsy
Great Value
-Hard to beat this price for a long enough course in decent shape. Might play back tees next time around (a few really short par 4s).
classic south Florida course
Nice layout, not long in yardage.
Great shape, had a thunder and lightning storm after 4 holes, got a burger at the bar - great sandwich fresh cooked potato chips, average price for Miami area.
Storm lasted over an hour and a half decided to give up. Pro at pro shop unwilling to give a rain check. Fortunately was able to retrieve my fee from golfnow. Com
took a while on the phone but glad the golf now staff was friendly and willing to help.
Nice course. Great afternoon.
Played a foursome with friends on a hot afternoon (normal for this time of year). Not busy, so no one ahead or behind...like we were playing our own private course. Greens showed signs of being aerated not so long ago, so the ball still hopped occasionally. Fairways in nice shape. Pretty course, with some of native vegetation left. Nice layout. Lots of water on the back 9, but fairways fairly wide and forgiving. One more thing. Easy access, right off the expressway.
