Disappointed
I was very disappointed in the quality and maintenance of this course. Plus, the staff was less than welcoming. Even the cart girl was not friendly. When I pay $170 for a round, I expect the best course conditions, outstanding customer service and a special outing. That did not happen. I will not return or recommend this course to my friends and family.
Key Biscayne course
Excellent challenging course, many positives, I had fun.
Beautiful and Challenging Course
Beautiful course and extremely challenging. I will definitely come back.
Great staff and challenging course.
There are some poor reviews on here and I’ve no idea why! On arrival - greeted warmly at pro shop, got some balls for the range. Starter welcomed us, gave us the cart and said come back when you’re ready if you want to start early. We had lunch at the restaurant which was great and friendly staff. Range, chipping and putting practice facilities all great.
The course itself. Not immaculate. But by no means terrible. Greens and tee boxes great. Some rougher areas (bald grass) on a minority of fairways. Bunkers in great condition. Saw a crocodile, a raccoon, iguana and many birds. We’re in Miami on the coast - what does one expect…?! Layout is superb. I wouldn’t call them blind tee shots - they’re merely dog legs (and long, 250 yards + to most of the ‘legs’.). If you want long and straight, not the course for you. If you want a true challenge - it’s perfect with some great par 3s and 5s in particular.
Would highly recommend and great value compared to what else is on offer in Miami.
Better days are gone
I've been playing the Links at Key Biscayne (a/k/a Crandon Park) since the 90's and my has this course aged in a bad way. What used to be a very strategic and immaculately maintained course has turned into a bit of a dog-track, with hardpan fairways, sparse grass, intrusion/flooding from rising sea levels in many places, a plethora of mosquitos any-time you get within 10 feet of the mangroves (the mosquitos have always been there so bring your bug spray). Unfortunately they as still charging a premium price for a public course that has seen no investment and sub-par maintenance over the last couple of decades ($400+ for me and my nephew). To make matters worse, we got stuck behind a foursome of mixed doubles that played so very slow and refused to let us play through as a twosome... by the 12th hole there was 2 holes open in front of them and not a ranger anywhere to be found (when we started there were no gaps on the tee sheet). I was so frustrated I had to call the clubhouse and they sent someone out to talk to them to pick up the pace (which helped only a little bit). So, in the end it was a 4:45 minute round on terrible conditions.
A must to play
Nice layout
Greens fast enough
Greens are well protected
What happened to Crandon?
Several years ago we played this course regularly. Yesterday we played it and it’s a mess. Fairways are chewed up, greens long and marred and the overall condition of the course and the amenities are poor at best. Staff for the most part inside were unfriendly. This was once a gem. We will not return.
So sad to see what's become of a beautiful course
What happened to this course? Who is managing this property? This tract is such a beautiful one, so challenging and usually lush. Now it has fallen into deep disrepair and it's so sad. The fairways have weeds, bare spots, dirt. The tee boxes have not seen a mower in weeks. The greens have patches, weeds, and are shameful. Clearly very little money is going to maintaining this once beautiful course. Other county courses, like Miami Beach and Normandy are in great shape and this jewel has now become a place to avoid. We have played this course for years and just revisited yesterday to find a completely different property. Once forecaddies were mandatory and now you cannot even find anyone to clean your clubs after your round. The pro shop has been cleared out, offering very little merchandise. The only odd, bright spot was seeing that brand new Titleist TSR club sets were offered as rentals. We had our own clubs but this was interesting. Even the carts are worn out, no GPS and beat up and unclean.
What happened to this place? It's now very apparent that the sale that was to occur a few years ago certainly should have gone through.
GOOD COURSE, NT ENOUGH CARTS
It was a pity that such a good and well kept golf course is having operational (non-course-maintenance related) management issues. If I had received my cart 35 minutes earlier (5 minutes before Tee Time) my rating would have been 5.
When we arrive at the course we discovered the back nine was closed. Had to play the front nine twice. And we still charged the full price of $109. The was not reasonable at all. No consideration given for this. Very disappointed.
Great course
Great course, nice wildlife with a lot of iguanas!
Awesome staff and reasonable prices! Recommended without reserve!
Nice but fairways too dry
This course is very difficult for an average golfer. Even a 11 handicap. The lay out is beautiful but the condition was not perfect. The fairways were very dry and lack of grass at many places. For the price ( hot deal), it worth it. I will not pay 100$ to play there.
