Waldorf Astoria Orlando

To preface my review, this round was not my first at the Waldorf-Astoria. While I understand the needs and desires of real estate owners and hotel operators to maximize property values, the recent physical changes to the course were extremely disappointing to see and experience. The layout has been compromised, not just in shortening the course to a par 70, but the changes to the hole configurations (e.g., par 5's segmented into two holes) and practice area (basically cut in half with permanent hotel function tents down the length of the area). The good news (and the reason for the two stars) is the staff remains friendly, helpful and frankly apologetic to the returning guest. And the course maintenance was superb. The bottom line? To a first time guest, the experience and value for the price paid may be acceptable. To someone who saw and enjoyed what the course once was, it was sad to see. And the lack of forewarning was also disturbing. Lastly, the revised course rating is not yet in the GHIN system, so after a better than average round, another disappointment.

PS - I cannot rate the off course amenities. Everything was closed at 4:30 PM during the holidays!

The Waldorf has all the trimmings of a private club - welcoming valet service on arrival, well appointed pro shop and clubhouse facilities, complimentary range balls etc. Friendly staff and high quality service. Course was in very good shape - outstanding for a public access course. Probably one of the best non-private Orlando area courses I’ve played.

Incredible course! Brilliant Staff! Cordial fellow golfers! Approximately 8 holes were extremely intimidating but rewarding for straight drives and laser accurate irons.

since the reopening of the back 9 the course is once again worthy to hold the prestigious Waldorf name. It is disappointing that the cart girl leaves early if she deems there arent enough golfers on the course for her to stay and do her job. With the restaurant closed the cart amenities is a necessity. I teed off at around 11am and never saw the beverage cart when asking at the end of the round I was told she left because after the early morning outing she had made her money in tips and didnt want to stay. very unprofessional and subpar for the Waldorf brand. to summarize, bring your own snacks and drinks as crass as that may be or you may go hungry here. the course and staff are super beyond that and definitely a great experience while in the area.

Golf staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the layout. Needed to make some shots but was fair. I would recommend you play if in the area.

I played solo and had a lot of fun enjoying a comfortable round. Very pretty course and well kept. New favorite course.

Back in February 2015 I was playing with my wife when I had to retire on the 3rd hole because of pain in hip. My wife continued to play and I took in the course layout.

Two titanium hips later...

Orlando November 2022 my wife and I made the trek back to the course. Sadly, the back nine was under reconstruction so I would never get to play those beautiful last few holes of the original layout.

Waldorf was in good shape considering Hurricane Nicole had just dropped buckets of rain on the course the previous Thursday. Besides the parts 3's there were only 4 holes cart path only the following Tuesday. We had a good day and enjoyed our round.

Shout out to Jude and Ryan who were performing duties of valet, bag drop, cart setup, club cleaning and directions to compressed air to clean our shoes. They said to come back when the golf course renovations were complete. Next time in Orlando I'll check in with Waldorf pro shop to see if Waldorf 3.0 has been completed.

Golf cart didn’t work very well. Particularly The GPS was totally inaccurate. I was surprised that course had been modified for the building project. However the staff was very friendly. I don’t think the course is a good value for the cost.

Great shape after opening back again. Greens a little hard on back 9, which is expected after new greens.

Slow play. 5 hour round.

Staff is excellent.

Conditions were ok. Greens cut low but slow.

Far ana away, the finest golf course I've ever played in florida. Lush from tee to green. The back nine just finished a redesign, but you could not tell based on the mature fairways and beautifully lush and true greens. A couple of holes were shorter than a standard par four, but the experience was so wonderful we did not mind one bit. If it fits within your budget, play this course!
