Great value, well kept and challenging
This course is always in great shape tee to green. Definitely some challenging tee boxes on a windy day. Great overall service. Coleman, the bartender, is a warm fellow and provides great service. A great deal is $60 and below.
Sacred Ground
The course was in perfect condition. Every hole you are reminded of where you are and who designed this gem. It was a drizzly day but nothing could dampen my feelings of excitement . In fact it took 2 holes to settle down and play good golf. If you get the chance, and can afford the price, check this one off your "bucket list ".
I was very fortunate to find this course on golf now. Beautiful experience one of the most memorable experiences on a long vacation in Saint Augustine. All of the extras free driving range, chipping area and historical golf shop made this one of the best courses I have played.
Great Course
If you are in the area...This course is a must.
Fairways were fantastic, Greens were top notch.
Greens rolled true and fast. my kind of greens
layout is a ten, there is room for your tee shots, but your eye goes to the sorrounding water or tree lines.
tight but fair
If you spray your shots, you will have to bring a couple extra sleeves of balls.
Hope you have as much fun on this this course as i did.
enjoy
We really enjoy this course. Very interesting, lots of variety and always in great shape.
Golf at the Slammer and Squire
I had a great time. Course was in great shape. It was cloudy and windy the day I played but was very enjoyable. Staff was great and very helpful. This is one of the best course I have played. If I have the chance will play again.
great course, but not at the hall of fame location
great course, just enough water, greens are fun and fair. but don't go to the HOF location. Slammer and Squire course is there, but King and Bear is about 2 miles further into the development.
Love this course
This is one of the best courses I have played in the Saint Augustine area. The only problem was it was cartpath only because they were seeding the fairways. I will definitely play here again.
One of My New Favorites
I'll begin with the fact that the reason I played this course was a surprising Hot Deal ($30).
Got to the course and was told that it was cart path only because they had just done their fall overseeding on the fairways. As long as the greens were not aerated I was fine with that, although it was often A long walk :-).
Course was fairly deserted because of the overseeing, thus the price. Great condition. Consistent quick greens and layout.
I wish they would have more hot deals like this but will probably not happen. Too bad because a lot of people are missing out on a great course.
Overall enjoyable experience, greens very fast course good shape
Too dam slow!
You shouldn't crowd so many people on this course and you should keep people moving
That was fun.
I have been looking forward to playing this course for some time. The wait was worth it. The club house was great. The help was wonderful. The driving range was neat and every container had balls in it. The putting greens gave me a taste of how fast the course greens were. The fairways were great surrounded by some beautiful homes with spectacular landscaping. Unfortunately there was little roll due to the wet conditions and I count on roll with my Crummy tee shots. The tee boxes were all marked for distance and there were markers all over the fairway. The greens were in great shape and were fast. The cart path only rule was in effect due to recent seeding but even that was not a problem. It was nice to just be walking around in the fairway while waiting for the groups in front of me to finish up. The carts ran well but there was no GPS in my cart. I played from the whites and was able to squeak out a few pars and a couple of bogies. I recommend this course to any one that just loves the game and the surroundings that come with it.
Surprisingly soggy
The course was surprisingly wet -- despite the fact that the area has not had an overabundance of rain in the past week or so. I played the day before at another JAX-area course, and there were no wet spots. The wet conditions were only half of the battle. Once I finally found the course (you would think that if World Golf Village can afford TV advertising it could afford more than two directional signs to Slammer and Squire), the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. As for the course, interesting layout, visually attractive and challenging enough (though not particularly long unless you play from the tips). Other observation was the relatively slow speed of the greens. This is the time of year when the greens all over JAX speed up. Not here though. I would like to play here again, but it will have to be during a prolonged dry spell.
What a beautiful location
The day was perfect and so was the course. Everything was in great shape! My brothers are coming to town next week and we definitely will be playing here.
Very nice course conditionsT
This is definitely a very nice course . However, the regular price of $95 is a little too high for my tastes. With a Hotdeal from Golfnow.com, I got on for $35. The staff was friendly, the course conditions were very good, and had it not been for the wet conditions that caused us to use "cart path only", this would have been perfect. Great resort next door, too.
Just Play It
Great course. Challenging yet fair. Excellent condition when we played only a week after Hurricane Irma. Greens a little rough, but to be expected since they just dried out enough to get mowers on the course.
I will play this course again.
