Don't even pay half price
The course is in terrible condition. Most tee boxes were moved up and made many par 4 less than 250 yarda. The greens were extremely slow but i guess we got used to it. Not worth anywhere where near the $85 fee. Sorry i uaed my 25% off coupon to play.
Sad, used to be really nice.
Stay Away from Stone Mountain
Played the Lakemont course. The fairways were in awful shape with large swaths of dirt and sand. The greens were like rough that was cut short - extremely slow. This course was in worse shape than any course I have every played.
Everything was perfect, except the poor green condition
I played afternoon tee time. It is super hot in summer. The staff are great, and the view was amazing. Almost no delay while playing the game. The problem was the green. It is almost not maintained, and the condition is similar to College Park's green. It is a random game like a coin toss.
Lakemont Golf Course
I have played both Stone Mountain Courses over the last few years with friends and family members. This was the first time I had played either course in about eighteen months and I was very disappointed. The course we played, Lakemont, was in very rough shape.
The fairways didn’t have much grass at all, the tee boxes were barely kept up and most were filled with geese poop sadly. It was a rough round due to the course upkeep.
I was very disheartened that a course I used to love to play was in this shape and costs over $100 dollars which is way to much for the condition the course.
Great Layout- Conditions Lacking
There are many other courses with much better conditions for the money. Several fairways had a significant lack of grass. Greens were notably sub standard. This course has a ton of potential but money needs to be spent on getting the course back to what it was in the past and ongoing upkeep.
DO NOT PLAY HERE
Played this with my buddy recently and this course is in sub par condition. Pace of play is horrendous, took us 5 1/2 hours to get through 18 and we had to wait 10-15 minutes on every shot. Not worth the money, go somewhere else.
Go somewhere else
I generally don’t do reviews but you need to know this if you’re about to spend $100 for a nice day on the links! Lakemont actually looks like an abandoned course tee boxes were grown up not cut in several days bare spots and gullies in fairways rough is unattended and surrounding areas unkept! I played here years ago and the place was beautiful what a disappointment when I arrived. It’s bad when you have to apologize to your party for bringing them to Lakemont. Staff was ok nothing special the range was dead balls and covered in sand and overpriced for a small basket of balls $8. Carts made it around ok but were showing a lot of wear and tear. However # 18 was in good shape! The cart girl I saw was excellent and friendly! Sorry Stone Mountain but y’all need to do better. From a distance Stonrmont look ok!!
Neglected Gem
Great layout with some interesting, fun and beautiful holes. Unfortunately the upkeep is clearly neglected with issues throughout the course from poor drainage, dead spots on greens, fairways, and tee boxes. Bunker sand is very firm. Rumor is new ownership is taking over, hopefully they can get this course back into the condition it deserves.
What a Joke
Tired, neglected, overgrown. This tract is a skeleton of it's former glory. It is just bad. There is no reason why any sane, avid golfer would return to this course. We live just 10 minutes away and should have known better. Haven't played it in 20 years, and it's worse than when we played then. You have been warned !
