Stonemont Changes
Course is in great shape as expected. Grounds crew does a great job maintaining the course. All the tree cutting of the last several years is a big improvement. Although changing all the time. Some staff have been there for years. They're all friendly and well trained.
On the negative side.
- Disappointment is still the greens. Inconsistent speed from green to green and some still need further work or replacement.
-Robert Trent Jones Sr. will be spinning in his grave if what a member told me about the 11th green is true. They plan to move the 11th green to a location before the creek. The new green will be smaller and flat. It looks temporary. The green has been a problem for years but to abandon the original design is disgraceful. If true I will skip the hole in the future.
- Getting into the park to play is still an issue. If you don't have an annual pass ($40) you have to pay ($20) entrance fee for the day. I think the pro shop offers a discount on merchandise to compensate.
Good Course Greens need some work
We played a day after a big rain so the course was cart path only. Most tee boxes and fairways were in good shape. Greens need some work though. Over half had bare spots. Okay layout some tee boxes are right behind/beside the last green which can make things interesting at times
Great value
Tees, fairways and rough in amazing shape. Greens roll good speed with a few sandy spots in some of the greens. Bunkers are ok. Not raked that day. Good layout.
Stone Mountain superb experience
Just relocated to ATL from Colorado last week and only played one other course however, this course is awesome. It was so good I went back to the gate and upgraded to annual parking membership..
First time and happy
Been with my wife who’s from the area for 8 years and when we come down from Ohio to visit my in-laws I always wanted to bring my clubs and play here. Didn’t bring my clubs this time but decided to rent a set from the clubhouse and booked the first tee time and I’m very satisfied. Set me up with a great Taylor Made M5 M6 set and played solo in 2.5 hours at a beautiful course. Well worth the deal and am thinking of playing Lakemont course next time I’m back
Course in good shape
Played yesterday and the GREENS were very good hole 10 saw some sand patches. Other than that course looks very good. Fairways look good maintenance people were out taking care of them. They never got in our way. Yes got a HOT DEAL for 27.00 love playing during week. I live 3miles from course so I have a season parking pass can’t wait to play either side again.
Ole reliable
Aside from a sand patch on most of the greens, the course is in good shape. Caught a weekday, pre-noon "hot deal, " and got paired up with another golf now'er, which is never an issue when I'm getting a tee time for over 50% off. Finished the round in less than 4 hrs. Bev cart caught us at the turn. If the grounds crew could just get the green issue figured out, this would be a five star round.
Great layout poor condition
This course has a fantastic layout with poor conditions - greens and tees . Almost every green has large sand pockets, and none of the tees are actually level!
Monster course
Stone Mountain Lakemont is a great course, bit a bit tough. Though it helped that the highest handicapped hole was hole #1. Get it out of the way early!
