Solid course... plays longer than it reads!
This is a challenging layout. Played Stonemont. Greens in great shape. Fairways as well. Really growing in nice this spring. Add a couple hundred yards to the overall scorecard total yardage due to lots of uphill greens. And that first hole! Ouch! Will play again for sure!
Such a shame
I loved this course 2 years ago. Now, they’ve let it go. The greens, while always slow, are now so furry that there’s no break. Whoever the superintendent is, needs to be replaced or needs an influx of funds to hire better people. The tee boxes are dead or dying, the greens unputtable and there’s never a ranger riding the course. It’s such a shame because the track is gorgeous and interesting.
I’ve played here dozens of times in the past 3 years and it’s gone downhill fast. I won’t return til things change.
Overall great golf experience
The course is in great shape. You’ll not find a friendlier staff anywhere. They’re awesome.
Really poor conditions on the course
The bunkers were completed washed out from the rain on Saturday, and no one had remotely attempted to rake them, let alone put additional sand in them. Each bunker had primarily mud in the center where the water had pooled.
In addition, several greens had huge sand spots, and overall the greens were slow, uncut and unrolled. The overall condition of the course is extremely poor for any course with $80+ greens fees.
Not worth it
For the cost of greens fees and parking, this course is absolutely not worth it. Half of the greens had huge spots of sand on them, the tee boxes were in awful shape, and the pace of play was incredibly slow with no Marshall. Would not recommend to anyone.
Hidden Fees!!
When you enter the Stone Mountain main entrance, you have to pay $20 parking for the day. Freaking ridiculous! That should have been mentioned when booking the tee time.
