Great hole! Photo submitted by dongolf0123 on 04/21/2014
nice course
better drive it straight; if you do you'll be okay. some greens are a little hard to read
Play this course!
This course may be south Georgia's best kept secret. The course has a fun layout and it's surprisingly scenic. Beautiful views of Pine Mountain, sprawling lakes, winding bridges, and all of this is surrounded by the lush landscaping of Callaway Gardens. Don't hesitate to play this one, you will not be disappointed.
Enjoyment
I always enjoy playing this golf course. It is not long but will challenge those that put the ball in the wrong place.
Course in great condition
Other than having to wait for 15 minutes on each hole (I played as a single and the first 6 holes in 30 mins), after the 6th, the course was in great condition. It was Father's Day and they allowed a 5 some which is okay if the course is quiet but it wasn't. The fact they never once allowed the twosome behind to play through is a disgrace. Their reasoning was they couldn't go anywhere as there were 3 foursomes in front. This is a lame excuse. One of their players even went back to re-tee when he couldn't find his original tee shot. What a joke!!! No rangers so was stuck in 90 degree heat waiting. I shot 77 so it's not that I played badly, but slow play is killing the game and this fivesone is as guilty as anyone.
I skipped ahead and played 17&18 in 10 minutes and went back to play 11-16. It took me 3 hours to play 10 holes. Scandalous.
Mountain coure
Great course with character and a GrEAT deal from this website
Mountain View
Excellent Course! Staff was extremely friendly. Would recommend to any avid golfer.
Great course
Challenging holes but nothing crazy great course for the price I found on golf now.
Good solid layout, alot of nice golf holes, and in good condition.
Overall, it is in good condition. The bunkers are a severe penalty as most are very deep and there is not much sand. Fairways are quite hard and the bermuda grass is still coming in. The layout was very nice with alot of different and interesting holes.
Very short course, was not in good condition
The Lake course is very short and I played the back tees. There are alot of patches on the greens, bad spots on the greens and work is still being done, so it is in below average condition. Not worth playing in my opinion.
Very scenic
Played the mountain course on a Monday and just about had it to myself. If you're a fan of natural scenery and wildlife, go play this course.
The fairways were in good shape and the greens had just been cut. Challenging course but not overwhelming.
Great Course!
This is a great course. I played in the afternoon, so it was very slow. Overall, the course is well maintained and the staff was very helpful and friendly.
Not what I hoped for
Fairways were very thin and sparse in places. Greens were also very thin with lots of dead spots. Pace of play was very good, but that was just a reflection of how few people were playing the course. It has been a very wet year in the area, so that could explain some of the conditions, but they still charge premium green fees of $70 or higher. For that amount, I expect better playing conditions
1st time playing course
Really enjoyed playing this course. Fairways not as wide as indicated in ads. You have to be accurate with shots. I think I hit every Sand trap on the course. Will definitely go back and play again. Lost a few balls, but found twice as many as were lost. Thanks for a great day.
Nice course
Course plays very short. Used my irons very few times, drive to a wedge on many holes. However the greens and fairways are in good condition, service was great, and course flows very well. There were not interruptions in play. Being that it is in a community, offset from a bigger city, the course was busy but not overcrowded.
Very disappointment
Service as for the customer service & to the customer service. No personal, be professional. Reason I say that because I didn't have right service from staff member. What a shame on Gallaway Garden. Very disapointment.
Great challenge
Weather was fair at best, rain squalling all day, and wind blowing. Only added to the test. Even with the conditions and the length from the tips, probably one of my better rounds in a long time. Fairways are just starting to come of of dormancy, and were a little "skinny". Tees were nice, and greens were okay considering the time of year. Had a hard time holding the greens, even with my high ball flight. Also, had to deal with some seeding and fertilizer spots on the greens, but all in all, not too bad. The bunkers were excellent, as usual. Not too much sand; just right. Got out at 2:20 PM on a hot deal, and was finished and in the parking lot by 5:45. Played through one foursome on # 5, and after that, didn't see anyone else until the back 9. Didn't use the range or get anything from the snack bar. $7 dollars for a bag of balls, and it only holds 40 or so, is a little steep. Give it another month or so, and this course will be " jam up ".
Lakeview
It is a very scenic course and I got what I paid for. The course was very open and offered some challenges. The course was a lot shorter than what I thought it would be and the fairways could use a little work. I'll chalk that up to the abundance of rain we've had in the area over the past couple of weeks. Overall, I was very happy with the experience and plan to play rounds there in the future.
excellent golf course but very poor and rude staff
Ironically, an excellent golf course with an extremely rude clerk (or manager because he seemed to be teaching another staff). I feel that if you are not a native English speaker, you should never go there. I felt that I was treated like a "monkey" by a rude clerk (or manager) there when I was checking in. No matter how excellent the course is, I would never ever go there again nor recommend to my friends as long as that rude guy is working there. It is pretty sad that this good golf course has that kind of unprofessional staff.
Great course
Great course. Every aspect of the course, tee boxes, fairway, rough, bunkers, and greens were all in excellent shape. This was my first time playing Mountain View course, and after previously playing the Lake View course, Mountain View was a lot more challenging than I expected. Really enjoyed the whole experience. Will definitely be back to play again.
Great experience, scenic beauty.
I have lived in columbus for 5 years and decided to trek up to play the Lakes Course. It was a little busy on Sunday Aft. So they put me on the Mtn course for the same rate. Great Layout, Grass was just beginning to come back to greenery. The greens were still a bit dormant and a bit sketchy (March 30th). The scenery though was fantastic. I can't say enough about it. Challenging greens due to small size, but not overly complicated like Maple Ridge or as big as Bull Creek. Would definitely recommend the excursion out for anyone!!!
