Lake View at Callaway Gardens Resort
About
Nestled in the southernmost foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Callaway Gardens was created in 1952 to preserve the local environment, from the native wetlands to the abundant forests of mature trees. Golf at Callaway Gardens is a unique experience in that you'll be completely submerged in nature and surrounded by wildlife. The resort’s two golf courses, Lake View and Mountain View, are challenging enough for avid golfers but they are scenic and playable enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. The Lake View Course is the original layout. It offers a slightly more player-friendly round with wider fairways and generous greens. There are more water holes on this golf course, nine total, including five holes that are routed along Mountain Creek Lake. The signature par-3 10th hole features an intimidating island green.

Golfer Reviews
Lakeview at Callaway Gardens, Georgia
Lakeview is an extremely difficult and technical course. Fairways and greens had severe undulation. There were 90° dog legs. Most of the greens were protected by at least three bunkers. Even good shots were penalized as huge trees leaned out over the fairway on both sides.
It’s a good course to get away and play with some friends, but don’t try to keep or shoot a good score
Cabrera Party
Green need some work there was patches missing all over. Grill opens at 11am could open earlier. Otherwise everything was good.
Callaway thru Golf Now
They need to even out the greens and clean up cut grass off the fairway. Putting was way too slow due to length of grass and uneven grass on the greens
Not worth the trip
This was once a signature golf getaway that has slowly declined over recent years but has now really hit the bottom. It’s really sad to see what has been allowed to happen to these two courses. The Lake course was the only on open and it was overgrown. The fairways were like looking for a ball hidden in the rough. Mounds upon mounds of grass clippings. The rough, forget about if hit into, have to step on the ball to find it and the greens were like what it’d be putting on a normal fairway. A 3 wood would’ve putted better on than a putter.
Keeps Getting Worse
The course over the last two years has just continued to degrade into unplayable conditions. Greens are like shag carpets, full of weeds, the fairways and tee boxes aren’t much better. They are in the balance where they can no longer charge resort prices because of the condition of the course and as they are lowering the fees, you are now getting a group of folks at the course who hurt the pace of play and definitely aren’t going to help with the condition issues. Bunkers were all completely ungrounded and to top it off, this level of care has carried over to the staff. As I pulled up, two kids on welcoming guests and getting carts didn’t even budge. Course Marshall completely lacked interpersonal skills. The management of this course should be fired, both in the club house and and for the course conditions
lakeview greens need work
tee, fairways are ok. Green were very slow and needed cutting. Course airrated two weeks ago but greens have not been mowed. Maybe in another two week it should be better. pace of play was great at 3 1/2 hours for 18 holes. staff inside and out were wonderful.
Better than before
A few years ago this place was in shambles, but it has improved significantly. Definitely obvious repair work being done around most greens, but didn't disrupt me at all. A bit pricy for what you get, but a fun course with an amazing layout.
Very Poor Conditions
The linings in the bunkers are all exposed and the bunkers have not been raked in months. The greens have dead spots, diseased spots and patches of sod that are dead because it wasn't cared for after it was installed. The tee decks are overused and have not been maintained or cared for in months. However, the fairways did have grass.
Great Time
I've played Callaway Gardens Lakeview course twice. I have had a blast both times. It is a very scenic course and it was a pleasure to play there and my company was awesome.
