The property was founded in 1952 and today features 36 holes of golf and many more natural and outdoor activities on the grounds to explore. The resort is home to the Lake View and Mountain View 18-hole golf courses, both wind and tumble through the rugged and forested terrain. The Callaway Resort & Gardens is set on Robin Lake, which has a beach area, while there is a robust events calendar bringing arts and entertainment to the property. In addition to golf, there are three pools onsite, workshops, hiking, tennis and a spa. The Treetop Adventure is a series of ziplines and bridges in the trees, and there is also a large butterfly center and birds of prey exhibit. For restaurants, there is a multitude of dining areas ranging from fine to casual, beach and poolside fare. Accommodations range from rooms and suites in The Lodge and Spa; more relaxed cottages with full kitchens and fireplaces; large and upscale villas; and the more affordable Mountain Creek Inn.Facts

Mountain Hopeful
Nice layout, Greens well protected by bunkers making approach shots critical. Sand is better than most Georgia course allowing shot making. Fairways look tight but have plenty of forgiveness.
Down side - greens in rough shape and have been for a while. Lake course has the better greens. Bunkers not well kept. When you have sand, they are fun. Lack of sand causing the underlining felt to pop up. Have yet to play when they were well groomed. Seems like only one cart person for two courses on a Saturday. Hit or miss on the availability of range balls. Seems funny for a resort course. Last week they said they hadn't picked the range but there was no balls out there. Extremely disappointed when you can't warm up. This Saturday the had big bucket free of charge, so that was nice.
Understand it is under new management. One of the greens keeper told me there is going to be serious work done on the mountain course to get it back up its former tournament level. Hope that is true.
What happened to the greens
I play there regularly and the greens were in bad shape. Hope they get better.
Not good
The greens are terrible. This course needs a lot of work. I would not pay more than 30 dollars for this course. If you do you will be disappointed
Greens
We love playing at Callaway Gardens. The course needs rain but the greens are suffering from the extreme heat. Hope Mother Nature will help improve conditions. It’s always a treat to play both Lakeview and Mountain View.
Great Value
Enjoyed playing this course. However the "first cut" that's in front of the tee boxes and before the fairways has to be cut. My buddies lost balls in there that should have been seen and playable. Also found others golf balls in these areas. Will come back and play lake view course.
Beautiful and serene surroundings
I understand the most recent posts. However, progress is being made. Fairways and roughs are being mowed. Fairways just aerated. New bathroom on #12. Green fringes are much better than 1 year ago. Sand and greens need work. My rating was based on special rate. Overpriced today at the rack rate. The structure is here - PGA tour layout. Let’s save it and spruce it up. Let’s not waste a tremendous asset.
Impressive Condition
I normally don't care to play in hot July, but weather was a little more mild, and price was right. I was impressed with the conditions of the greens & fairways, as we have had a lot of rain recently. What I remember as fast greens were more moderate, which I like. Everything seemed to be in top notch condition, and I enjoyed this round very much!
Bad course maintenance
I’m assuming we were the first tee time since the greens had not been cut. They were running ahead of us trying to cut, blow the greens. They failed! Half the greens were not blown off so we just picked up. They neglected to put the flags back up on three holes so we just aimed for the green and hunted the flags when we got up there. I don’t live far and have played several times in the past, I brought three friends with me and was totally embarrassed!
Sixsomes
two groups of six young men clogged up the course. I do not understand why this was allowed. This course has seen better days. An image of the bathroom behind the fourth green would ruin your dinner.
The course is really wide open around the big lake, holes 6-13.
