About Chateau Elan Winery & Resort
Chateau Elan Winery & Resort is a golf resort located in the North Georgia mountains to the northeast of the Atlanta metro area in Braselton. This 3,500-acre estate is home to a nearly 300-room and suite resort (with a collection of villas as well), winery and four golf courses (one of which is accessible to members only). The resort completed a $25 million enhancement project in September, 2020, the first major renovation since the property opened in the 1980s. The lobby was entirely redesigned and there are four new dining concepts. Additional activities at Chateau Elan include an outdoor pool, tennis courts and culinary studio.Facts

This was the #13 green if i'm not mistaken. Can see how nice the sand bunkers were and how nice the green was. Photo submitted by bryan6804634 on 09/16/2016
Pace of play ridiculous
Chateau Elan packs you on the course which was to be expected on Thanksgiving morning. Shotgun start which should help the pace of play….It didn’t. The management took our payment, led us out in a caravan and then went home. There were 4 groups stacked on a par 3 and then the next hole is wide open. My foursome was forced to quit playing with 5 holes to play because we were already 4 hr into the round. I walked back into the pro shop only to find the doors locked. I’m aggravated to have paid $150 and not have the chance to finish the round and further have no chance to express my disappointment with the pace of play with management personnel. Don’t go play this course. Go north, go south, but don’t play Chateau.
Even better than usual
The course was in really good condition given it's late October. Found the perfect gap so I did not run into another group until hole 14 and finished the round in under three hours.
Great layout, reward/risk, some holes are easier to give you a breather after tough holes, beautiful.
the pro shop person was super nice.
Woodlands did a great job Golf Now failed
Showed up for our tee time with the email that said we had an 8:06 tee time. Course tells us we didn’t. That put us off on the Tradition 9 holes and we had to play that 9 twice since there was no other room on the tee sheet. Course accommodated us but GolfNow screwed up and left us hanging.
Chateau debut
For pure golf, an excellent track. Nuances require some local knowledge, but that’s not a concern for a vacation round.
Biggest disappointment was the sparse customer service staff. No cart attendant going out or coming in for a round that started at 11:40 am. No one in the golf shop for almost 10 minutes when I arrived.
Too much money for what you get
I've played this course at least 20 times. This was the first time in at least 6 months. It's a fun layout, good for practice. And the greens were in about the best condition I've seen in the last 10 years, but that isn't saying much. Usually these greens are pretty tore up, bumpy, hairy and not well cared for. They used to be pretty much unputtable. Most of them except 9, rolled very nicely and were pretty fast. The only issue is it seems there are some fungus spots around the edges of some and in the middle of the greens on others. $20 is too much for average conditions. The course conditions used to be a 1 or 2, they are now a 3 at best. There is almost no grass on tee #1 which is 90 yards. I'm generally not teeing up a 90 yard shot for practice so that is disappointing. And other boxes are not great either. This place is a good value for $10-12. $20 is silly even accounting for record inflation. Especially since there is nobody manning the course to get in or out or take $. And their used to be pull carts. They aren't there anymore either. So they are charging twice as much as before and giving you less.
Only played because of Hot Deal
Decent course, only reason I didn’t give it a worse rating was because if the hot deal price. Tee time was 3:20 and barely finished. Had a 4-some in front of our group playing at a snails pace. Finally let us play through around hole 12. I don’t understand why they charge full price for tee times that will conflict with the sundown time. Tee boxes were shot, fairways were really good, and the greens were well maintained (just really fast fyi).
First off
Good track, tough to play as first tmier. Good gps in cart. Not worth $100.
