Chateau Elan Golf Club - Chateau Course
About
Although Chateau Elan Golf Club & Resort is just 40 minutes from Atlanta, the panoramic views of the north Georgia foothills make it feel much further from the city. The club boasts two public championship courses and a nine-hole course as well as The Legends, a private golf club. In addition to the golf, Chateau Elan is also home to a full production winery. The Chateau Course is one of the public championship golf courses. The layout wanders across 170 acres, winding around a lake and two creeks. Water, not surprisingly, comes into play on more than half of the holes but there are also 87 bunkers strategically placed throughout to watch out for. There is thick Bermuda rough bordering the contoured fairways too. It is more open than the slightly more challenging Woodlands Course, the other public championship golf course.

This was the #13 green if i'm not mistaken. Can see how nice the sand bunkers were and how nice the green was. Photo submitted by bryan6804634 on 09/16/2016
Not my favorite layout and the greens...well
The driving range was nice. People at the clubhouse seemed friendly and staff were helpful in getting us out on the course. The layout is not my favorite. Many places that you have to be aware of creeks or other things that affect either the t-ball or the second shot. Once you get to the greens they were in I will say less than desirable condition. Many brown areas, the cups look like they were cut by a two year old who didn't know how to cut cups, super saggy edges on nearly every hole, they had put a top coat of sand on and we had to wait while the maintenance people ran a cart over the top of the greens for six or seven holes straight..
All in all I have played many courses that were better than this and probably won't play it again.
Nice course in Great shape
The Chateau course is very good and fair to the aveeage golfer. The course was in excellent shape and we finished out round in 4:15!
Staff went over the top to make course playable
This course never disappoints. I make the trip to Georgia every July and make sure to play here. The course was hit by a severe storm the night before. I had the first time of the morning. Staff was there early to make sure the course was in great shape and very playable for my group.
Great track, Great property, Slow greens
When green fees are $100+, I expect certain things. One, greens should be fast. Yes, they were aerated a couple weeks ago but they haven’t been rolled and play incredibly slow. Also, when green fees are $100+ I expect free range balls. That being said, I enjoyed playing the course. The traps were pristine. I would play again.
Chateau Course
The greens haven’t fully recovered from being aerated a few weeks ago. Good layout and nice course.
Greens still good with the punch
Fantastic course.
Grass range.
Multiple putting greens.
Tee boxes-perfect
Fairways-perfect
Rough and extended areas- very good. Little dry but it’s Georgia summer. Stay in play and it won’t be an issue.
Greens- punched several weeks ago but still rolling great. Made several putts outside 10’.
Pace was ok. One slow group a few groups ahead of us but finished in 4 hours 10min.
Good course design. Had some turns, some water, lot of well placed bunkers that we found. Not a whole lot of elevation change for Georgia but not a bad thing.
Top tier course all around.
Great golf course
Must okay to appreciate. Great course and great staff and service.
Great course
Chateau Elan Chateau course is a great course. Pace of play is great, finished our round in 4 hours 20 minutes. Layout is awesome. Course is maintained very well. The greens were punched which was a bit of a bummer. The course is in great condition. Staff at the proshop is very friendly.
Aerated Greens. Zero communication about it!
For a course as expensive as this, to not communicate that their greens were punched is just ridiculous. Took my father and brother out for Father's Day. Drove an hour to get there. We find out when we get to the 1st green that they were punched. Putts were rolling all over the place.
Zero communication on the course website or on GolfNow/Teeoff about it.
I complained the next day and GolfNow says you should have stopped playing and called us for a refund. Nothing they can do about it now. Disgraceful.
Aeration
Unknown to entire group, serious creation and lots of sand on greens. Played 2 putt limit
Sunday
Was a great course. Started on time at 10:30. But at the ninth hole a group of six jumped in two ahead of us and slowed the whole game down. The people in front of us said something to them but it didn’t matter. No big deal. Was a great course and I would go back
