Chateau Elan Golf Club - Woodlands Course

I’ve always preferred The Woodlands course over the Chateau course.

I have played this course for years and always liked it better than the Chateau course. Unfortunately it is heading in the wrong direction. It was more than just the recently punched greens. Pace of play was terrible. We waited on most tee boxes. The fairways had eroded spots of dirt and rocks over near the cart paths in many areas. This is a sign that the course is not properly maintained as a I’ve seen it at a LOT of courses that deteriorated over the years.

Finally, they’re going to have to rename the course. When I started playing there, there were maybe 10 houses on the entire course. It truly was “woodlands”. Not any more. Huge swaths all over the back nine have been clear cut for new neighborhoods. Doesn’t look promising. We got a bit of a cut rate because of the aeration. Even though we had a good time and I played well, It wasn’t enough.

The bunkers need a bit of work. Some of the bunkers had plastic sticking out from the base. Its so unfortunate that some golfers don’t repair their pitch marks and rake bunkers. They leave the course in a poor condition for others. Just selfish

Reasonably well taken care of, greens were a little inconsistent. Overall most holes will challenge your ball placement skills. Fun to play

Should be a premier course and always was. But starting to show some wear and tear. Greens were not rolling true, OK but not true. Cutting down trees all over the place to make room for more houses - kind of a shame. Fairways are in good shape, but a lot of what I would consider ground under repair around trees, washed-out areas all over the place. Saw the cart person only once, right when I was about to finish the round. Hardly any water on the course; there were a couple of coolers, but the water was warm.

Staff was very nice, but the course is losing some of its "premier" golfing experience status.

This used to be one of my go to courses as I liked the layout and the way the course meandered through the woods, but I played it yesterday after being away for about 6 months. I will not be going back! All the construction around the course, removal of trees, and the lack of maintenance on the course make the course unenjoyable. The cart paths have large pot holes and bumps throughout the course. Not fun!!! In addition, the GPS on my cart didn’t work and the gas petal was missing rubber!! Poorly done. Yes the greens were actually in pretty good shape and they roiled well (although very slow), but that’s about it.

Nice course pretty well kept. Construction near portions of the course was noisy and dusty. One of our partners golf cart front linkage either broke or came unattached almost causing a wreck into a tree. Several bare spots with hard pan and rocks close to fairways. Only saw cart person once. Prison staff was very friendly and helpful. Greens were soft so many ball marks that were not repaired. Expected better for the price.

Awesome course even with a couple days after aeration. Will be back for sure. Thank you for the hospitality.

Enjoyable round, lots of construction that likely takes away from why it was called Woodlands. Course is in good shape, greens were affected by a previous jr event where divots were not properly repaired. Feel like the grounds crew will be working to get it back together by the weekend

For plus $130 the course should be in much better shape. There really is not much rough, its pretty good fair ways and them dirt, rocks and leaves.

Lots of construction around the back side of the course. All in all a good value.

The course condition is not that good for price.. Middle portion of course has lost appeal with major real estate development.
