Chateau Elan Golf Club - Woodlands Course
About
Chateau Elan boasts three public courses, two championship courses and a nine-hole course, as well as a private golf club, The Legends. The Woodlands Course is one of the public courses. It is considered the most scenic of the three championship layouts with stunning views of the north Georgia foothills and a landscape of sparkling lakes and towering trees. Of the two public championship golf courses, the Woodlands is considered to be slightly more challenging thanks to several tree-lined holes that require a fair amount of accuracy. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, so be prepared for some tricky blind shots. The lakes and ponds dotting the course come into play on several holes as well. Although it enjoys a beautiful mountain setting, Chateau Elan is conveniently only 40 minutes from Atlanta.

The course condition is not that good for price.. Middle portion of course has lost appeal with major real estate development.
Poor Value
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Pace of play was excellent for a public course. My biggest issue was the price point of the course vs the value. The conditions were sub far even for this time of year. Some major issue around cart paths, greens were average, on the slow side but somehow didn’t hold. Looks like that had been punched a few weeks ago so maybe they could be better. Fairways were bad with a lot of dead pan lies. It is a fun course lay out, I just expected higher standards from a $144 course. It definitely has the potential to charge that, but the course conditions don’t meet the price for now.
Disappointed
I was excited to get to play this course again, but coming off some rain it was in bad shape. There are rocks in bunkers, and rocks just off the fairway. The greens were fine and the best part of the course even after aeration. Disappointing
Aerating Woodlands-- they should alert GolfNow
Played this course many times. It was wet when we played but that's just how it is. Grass still dormant at this time. Practice green was smooth and wet but got to the course and the greens were shaggy and recently punched. Always a let down when you pay top dollar and the greens are basically unputtable. Also lots of washouts and debris on course. Disappointed. Hopefully they get it back in order
Course is a challenging layout and the staff is nice.
Excellent Condition
Played early Sunday and was able to breeze through the course. Course conditions were a little wet so it was cart path only but the course Played well. Greens were amazing. Sad too see the amount of construction around the course. Sorta loses it's namesake. Soon there will be very little trees on the a Woodlands course.
Huge changes at the course - Decent conditions for Feb
Holes 8 though 12 were previously in a forest and how home construction is underway
Massive visual changes
I will say the views from 11th green are now amazing.. Who knew they were there
Course is decent condition for Feb.. Greens are faster than normal even..
Bare lies are to be expected...
Great course best of the 3
Great course .. winter weather took a little away from the beauty of this course (colors) .. but still an amazing outing .. my go to always when visiting GA .. and pair it up with the georgia miles they have at the clubhouse .. hard to beat .. coming back in 3 months .. always a must
Wow
Awesome course
Great layout
Greens were tough
Great time great price
Probably last spectacular weather day of the year
Played in shorts
Carts may be hosed down after play but certainly not washed. 30 carts lined up and couldn’t find a clean one.
No tees on the cart. Seems small, unless you need one.
Got stuck 3 times on cart path. Really. Sensor said I was in a no cart allowed area. Very frustrating to have to keep backing up to find the side of the path to go forward. Later warned by Ranger to pick up our 8 minute behind pace.
Cart paths are just dangerous. My group was all stunned to ride on such deteriorated asphalt paths.
Greens were great. All and all, for $180, not worth it.
Not worth the money
Poor maintenance and greens for the price. There are much better courses in the area for less money,
Great layout
The course has a fun layout. The greens were recently punched within the last month so they weren’t as good as they can be. Great value though
Greens recently aerated
The course is overall in good shape but the greens were recently aerated and sanded. Once the grass comes back in this will be a great option at Chateau.
