Come a long way
The greens are in great shape, a few T boxes need some work. Fairways are in great shape.
Damp day at City Club
I had a great day at City Club on Tuesday (9/29). The light rain dis not stop until middle of the afternoon. The course was almost empty so I played at my rate the whole time. The course is in very good shape. It was mowed well and the greens are smooth. The greens have changed since the last time I was there. They are really good. I am past 75 years old and so I played the gold tees. It was a very enjoyable round. Thank you.
Great conditions, slow play
I’ve been playing this course for the last 10 years and it’s in as good of shape as ever! Some tee boxes need work, but the greens are choice and the fairways and rough well manicured. Only setbacks are the length, pace of play and cost. I wouldn’t mind paying the $50 for 5800 yards on a weekend, but a weekday when every other group is hackers. Makes for a long day. With that said, 9 out 10 would recommend.
Good course for the money
This is a fun course with a few challenges along the way, it’s a good value for the money. Since it’s reasonably priced expect all Friday and weekend tee times to be full, so pace of play is slow. Go with a good attitude and a little patience and you’ll enjoy this course.
Course is nice, very slow play
The course looked pretty good today. The greens are super fast and challenging. I hate leaving negative reviews and this is my second one but the course is just TOO crowded and the play is TOO slow. This is the third time in a month I've attempted to play out there where the slow speed was just beyond normal. I keep wanting to give it another shot hoping it is just a slow day but I'm now convinced they are cramming tee times in and they're not worried about speed of play.
Great place for an afternoon round
Only complaint at this course would be the greens. They are extremely hard and make it extremely difficult to hit greens from the fairway(Had a 60 degree wedge shot bounce off the 6th green like it hit the cart path). Definitely a good value for money though and it certainly worth a play.
Nice course, good value
Course is a nice layout, par 71 (3 par 5s). Multiple tee options, played the whites which allowed most of the par4s to easily reachable in two: several are @300 yards, a few even less. Course is tucked into a fairly small plot as it's a city course, so you can't spray a driver much, suggest higher handicappers stick to 3/5 wood tee shots. Narrowish fairways and doglegs rule here, with enough elevation change to keep it interesting but not overly demanding. Number 9 is really the only straight uphill slog you'll have all day. Course conditions were great, the only downsides being unraked sand (nobody seems to do this anymore) and rock-hard greens that were pretty slick. Nice course, would play again.
Consistent
Always a great time with great conditions. I love the layout.
Pretty good actually!
It’s a public course, so yeah the pace is slow at times but this is a wonderful course! The only issue I had was that I booked a tee time on Golfnow and the clubhouse acknowledged that was the correct time. However the starter said I was scheduled for 30 minutes later. This was a minor issue, but being pushed back 30 minutes and being paired with randoms late in the afternoon, kept us from finishing a full 18 before sundown.
The pace of play continues to be terrible
I feel awful posting this review publicly because in the past I've played so many great rounds out there. But something is going on with how they are setting up tee times because this is now the second round in a row I've had issues with pace of play. I was told when I arrived that I could go off of the 10th tee. I did as I was instructed assuming they were just backed up off of 1. There was no passing the person in front of me because there were golfers everywhere. By the 6th hole, I gave up as the pace was just too slow. I headed home and didn't' finish my round. I debated calling saying something but I feel like my feedback ins't being listened to as I emailed them the last time this happened. I hope they focus on speed of play for their guests in the future.
Worst greens I have EVER seen
They were repairing the greens, which was not communicated during booking. And by under repair, I mean they all had a coating of sand on them, making it virtually impossible for greens to hold approach shots. One wedge from 100 yards was right at the pin skipped 20 yards over the green (even though the course was soaking wet). It got so bad, at one par 3, we had the wait to tee off until a maintenance guy finished dragging the green, like they do on a baseball infield. Using a John Deere Gator. Never seen anything like that before. Other than that, the course was just neglected and a little sad. Nice layout, fun elevation changes, nice views, but all in all, will not be going back. The greens will be nice when finished, but courses should really notify players in advance.
Great course within Marietta.
Have to think about your landing spots on many of the holes. Greens are in great shape and quick.
Good local city course
I found the layout to be both interesting and challenging and over all was in good shape. The greens were much slower than I am used to, but they did roll true. Only negative was pace of play after a few holes and believe much was due to allowing singles or twosomes to tee off which meant waiting on at least 2/3 of the holes. The layout is what will bring me back and will try to find a non weekend day/time to do this.
good course, but way too slow. unbearable. wouldn't recommend to play at peak times
literally took us 5 hours to play 18. way too slow.
