I was wondering why the parking lot was empty....
This course is a mess. The greens are terrible, the fairways and thin and spotty, and there are so many leaves everywhere that is nearly impossible to find your ball in the middle of the fairway. Plus people who seemed to never play golf before holding up play and there was no Marshall to be seen all day. This course obviously does the bare minimum to even be “open” for play so they can squeeze every last penny from the few players that play here. I paid $45 and I wouldn’t play here again if it was free. So many other courses in better shape and are actually cared for in the area. Don’t bother coming here.
Waste of time
The new greens are awful. I realize they changed them to save water but the old ones were decent and the new ones are really bad. They are extremely bumpy and uneven as well as some are fast and some are slow. The fairways are very thin and sparse. GPS on the cart is worthless. Lots of blind shots and holes running parallel to each other which makes it a very dangerous course to play. Golf balls coming from all directions so keep your head on a swivel. Kid at the bag drop just sat in a cart and stared at his phone both before and after I played. This course is worth $10 tops. Lots of better courses around for the same price or less
Great Value
City Club Marietta has always been one of my favorite courses to play. The biggest struggle over the last couple of years has been the greens, but they finally made the decision to change the grass this year. The greens are in excellent condition and are very firm. The course might be short, but there is a great variety of holes. Looking forward to returning soon.
New greens
First time since playing with new greens. Always felt MCC was great value. Disappointed when the greens when last year. Now the new greens the course is back to its value. Greens run true.
Haven’t played here in a while
The course is in better shape that I had seen it in years past. Greens were a little slow, and a couple were in tough shape. However the course itself looked great, and was a good value for the money.
Rather play putt putt
Course was in terrible shape, and the "Pro" at the desk was one of the rudest people I have ever met. He started unzipping pockets on my golf bag to look for smuggled in beers. I had one powerade in my bag and he insisted that if we wanted to play I would have to dump it out or toss it. What a joke. He lost out on our party of 4 eating lunch there and having a beer after our round. Well played on your rude routine.
Course was in great shape
The new greens are really starting to take hold. Course is hilly with some challenging holes but also has enough easy holes to make it fun to play.
Great fairways, Poor greens
The fairways were in great condition, rough was manageable; however, the greens were dry, sandy and hard. The greens were renovated recently but roll like the old greens.
Marietta City Club
Overall good experience. Had not played it in 15 years. Great staff and course in good shape. Some greens still need work. Course was clean and looked well maintained.
Had a hard time finding balls if not in the fairway. Grass was long. Greens were pretty rough as well. Also got rooked from the sweet cart girl. 2 12oz cans (don’t recommend) of Bloody Mary and crackers $17.75.
Thank you for playing City Club, I am sorry you did not have the best experience. We are seeing prime growing weather for Bermuda which leads to some challenging rough. The new greens are growing in well and will just get better with time. We are sorry you did not enjoy the cocktails, check with me the next time you are here and we will make it right. I checked on the pricing and she charged the correct amount, the canned drinks are convenient, but pricey. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Same ole greens
Came to check out the “new” greens. Sad to say, they look too much like the old greens. Lots of dead spots, on most of the greens. And the dead spots seem to be in the exact same places they were before the greens were redone. Putts bounce, they don’t roll.
Glad it's back
The new greens are infinitely better than the old ones, still a couple weeks from being 100%, but tee to green City Club is a fantastic course, finally they'll have greens to live up to it.
Thank you! We will be topdressing the greens over the next few weeks which will take out the small irregularities and make them roll smoother, but they are getting better every day. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Getting there
New greens are still growing in but should be a great upgrade for the future.
Thank you for your patience with the new greens, they are getting better each day and we look forward to great days ahead. See you soon!
Much Improved
I had not played this course in over a year because of the shape the course was in. Everything is much improved now. The new greens are still a little bumpy but I imagine by next summer this place will be great again.
Thank you very much for giving us another try. The new greens are coming in nicely, they just need to mature now. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
There are no greens in any holes. All par 3 are closed
Total waste of time
Why golf now is lusting the course that have no greens .
We apologize that you were not notified by GolfNow about the temporary greens during our greens renovation project. We have had several conversations with them about the lack of information listed on the Hot Deal times and we will continue to pursue this issue with them. We look forward to seeing you again once the new greens are open.
You do not want to play this course until they get the many issues under control with the course!!
Went to the course which i played over a year ago. Boy was i sorry i took a friend to golf with me on a special on line rate! Arrived to find out they had temporary greens cut in the fairways, closed numerous hole and converted several par fives into two short holes!! I almost went back to the clubhouse to ask for a refund after the first hole! I wish i had! The fairways had been cut and large clumps of grass everywhere, as well as on the temporary greens. This was the worst taken care of course i have ever played in my life. The temporary greens were un-puttable and small, extremely small!!
The cups were increased is size that you could fit two baseballs in them!
Apparently, perhaps under poor grounds course management they lost all their greens and are starting over..was told the greens might be putt-able / playable in 3-4 weeks but i doubt it. This course won’t be back in shape for a good year or more and only if they have a good greens keeper and course manager. What a shame, it was a nice course at one time..
In occurred to me after playing that management could have made a bad situation better by keeping the overall course in good condition while playing with temporary greens; but they did not. If your thinking of playing here i would’t for at least a year till they get the course back in shape like it used to be..
A saddened golfer that won’t be back; if at all!
We are sorry you were disappointed with your visit. We have tried to communicate the fact that we are on temporary greens either over the phone or on the website. There should have been a box that you were required to check acknowledging the temporary greens when booking online, if not, let me know and we will have it corrected. We apologize about the rough clippings. We are working on a method to reduce their impact in the future. We are currently converting the greens from Bentgrass to Tif-Eagle Bermuda as it will provide a better putting surface. The new greens should be open sometime in late August. We look forward to seeing you again and providing you with a better experience.
We are sorry you did not enjoy your experience at City Club. As the new greens mature, they will get much smoother. We will be topdressing them regularly and performing other maintenance practices to get them in top shape, but it will take some time. If you could provide some specifics on the GPS system, we can pass them along to Yamaha and get the issues corrected. As for the bag drop staff, I can assure you that this is not the level of customer service we strive to provide and we are already looking into the situation. We hope to see you again in the future and the opportunity to provide you with a better experience.
