Less than expected
Was really looking forward to playing here as I had heard good things about the course. It wasnt a completely bad experience and for the money($14 hot deal) not a bad deal. The greens, with exception to a few holes, were absolutely AWFUL! Having said that, I would play it again but not for full priced green fees.
Greens need work
I've played this course several times and in the past few years the greens have gone downhill. There are only about 3 greens on the entire course that aren't fried with sand and brown spots all over. The rest of the course is in average shape, but I would not pay $50 to play here again. In its current shape, this course is worth maybe $30.
We are sorry that the greens are not in the best shape right now. The heat has been hard on the poa annua this year and some goose grass has crept in where the poa annua has been lost. We will be aerifying and starting a reseeding program on August 4th which will hopefully have us back in great shape for the fall golf season. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.
We are sorry that the greens weren't rolling as expected on the day you played. The greens have been stressed with the extremely hot weather. Part of our greens have poa annua grass in them that thrives in cooler weather. The heat has stressed the poa annua grass and that is where the brown coloration comes into affect. The greens should be back to standard before we know it! Thank you for playing and we hope to see you back out here!
Give it a ride
A good course to play to work on shot making and scoring. Greens coming back but not a hindrance,
Great find
nice course challenging for a mid level player, great staff. Will play again.
Good conditions/slow play
I played by myself and was stuck behind a foursome the whole 18. You would have thought that anyone with common golf etiquette would have let you play through. Not this group though.
I know this isn't the courses fault but, I definitly think they should send the Rangers around more often to check on pace and such. These guy just had bad etiquette and were did not play at a good pace.
Overall, course was in great shape and the staff was super friendly.
High marks all around
CC is in good shape tee to green. Only concern is golfers not fixing their ball marks on the greens. Certainly recommend playing it.
Slow round at City Club
We had generally good experience once again.
Positives- Fairways were in good shape and staff was friendly.
Negatives- It was so backed up was teed off 20 minutes late which is odd since their tee times are ten minutes apart and ended up behind a group with a child and a lady which slowed them down and us down until they quit after 9 holes. Greens looked good from a distance but seemed to have some sort of weed growing throughout which slowed them down.
Played pretty well though, so not a total loss.
This course was nice to play. The staff is awesome.
The course has some nice scenic views however was not ready for the up and down plays on the hilly terrain that day.
Good ccourse close in Marietta
This is a very good course for non beginners. It has
plenty of slope on the greens and the course itself. It is good shape right now and will improve as the weather does. We started right after 8am and finished in just under 4 hours. The greens are tricky and just a tad slow. This will change as summer heat takes over.
You can expect several up down and side hill lies in the fairways. Some of the fairways are pretty narrow so accuracy is important. In spite of the lesser yardage this course can be a real challenge.
Fun Track!
Good times were had by all. Plus, the staff really went the extra mile. Thanks Justin.
Great shape
Course is in great shape considering the traffic but be ready for 5 hour round.
SLOW
Overall the course is in decent shape. And I had a good time, but the pace was beyond slow. It took 5 hours to play 18. If I had dinner plans, I would have had to leave before finishing the back nine.
City club if Marietta
Tee boxes were fair to poor. Greens were in good shape and slow. The rough was is good condition.
Didn't see an aeration alert
The course was in good shape, but the greens were still recovering from recent aeration. So they were bumpy and slow. Should have had an alert when booking. Other than that, the course and staff were great. Should have been a cheaper rate though.
Slow pace and poor conditions
I used to play this course a good bit. I decided to go back today. The pace of play was terrible. It took us over 2:35 minutes to play the front 9 holes. This is not a long course and is over booked. We had to wait to take almost every shot. The back nine sped up a little, but multiple groups around us left because of such a slow pace of play. Over all the course played in 4:45. The course conditions were not good. There was not much grass on the tee boxes and the fairways were in poor shape. The greens were bumpy and hard to judge. I will not be play Marietta City Club again.
This course is good at best
The local or regulars act if they owned the course, provided no assistance at all. I did like the entrance to the course, made me think I was about to play at private course. But, unfortunately the starter and a few other employees killed that feel real quick by being disorganized.
Fun Course
This is a great course with some challenging holes. 8 is wonderful par 5 that challenges even the best players in the game. On a slow day you can try to go over the 7th green and leave yourself with a nice second shot in. Butter fairways and wide open lanes makes this course a joy for everyone. I would recommend this course to players of all skill levels. See you out there.
Just what I've been looking for!
Needed an ideal course, close to home and reasonably priced. After playing this course for the third time, I've learned that club selection is key to having an enjoyable round. Now that I've become familiar with the course, I plan to make it my first choice when searching for a place to play. Even though the course had an aeration warning, it still played well and gave me the type of challenge I needed to entice me to play it again. Lots of uphill fairways and an abundance of water holes made the round interesting. The staff, friendly golfers, and the great rate I found on Golf Now, made it even more enjoyable. So, if you're looking for a local Atlanta course that offers a challenge and good fun, I'd recommend trying City Club Marietta. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!
3/29/2015
Pace of Play was very poor. My group waited at least 15 minutes or more on the front 9 holes. Took over 3 hours to play the front 9 and no one was out there to speed up the pace of play!
Curious and Finally Played!
Many times I searched to booked online for new places to play and was curious about this one. Finally decided why not and had a great experience. Staff very friendly upon arrival and the guys got a look at my bag, being a single, paired me with a father/son challenge that could play. Charles and Charlie was their names, very easy to remember. Maybe it was late in the day, the one negative, two groups ahead couldn't hit the ball 150 yards; once we got through, with no assistance from a marshall in site; smooth sailing. Be warned, 5700 from the tips, but you have to hit quality tee shots. Very forgiving with loose shots, a number of holes you are hitting through a shoot and have to work your golf ball. This time of year, fairways are bare; super working hard to keep the fairways in some shape. With that, still had a great time with a good test of golf. Not sure if they are investing funds as they use too, but, you can tell they are going in the right direction. Course is short, but uphill, downhill lies into greens protect from going too low. Had a good time and can't wait to get my group out this spring when it's green and pretty!
We apologize for the greens, it has been a rough year with all of the heat. We are aerifying and laying down more seed this week so we should have them back in shape for the fall season. We look forward to seeing you back at City Club Marietta.
