About Lake Richard B. Russell at Arrowhead Pointe State Park

Lake Richard B. Russell State Park is located east of Atlanta and northwest of Augusta in Elberton near the state border of South Carolina near the Savannah River. It is home to Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course, one of the best value courses in the southeast and a previous recipient of Golf Advisors' Golfers' Choice Top 50 lists. The state park is located on a 26,650-acre lake and home to fishing and boating. There are 20, two-bedroom cottages within the park to rent, as well as RV and campsites. In addition to the 18-hole golf course on the lake, there is disc golf, fishing, bike rental, kayak and canoe rental. The golf clubhouse has a cafe and golf shop and has a banquet room for larger groups.

I Wish Hickory Knob was in this condition

Great course conditions. Georgia should be proud of this course and its staff. I wish South Carolina took the same pride in the Hickory Knob course. It’s maintenance is pitiful compared to Arrowhead.

Scenic stretch of holes

Beautiful stretch of lakeside holes on back nine. Greens in great shape and rolled well. Fairways coming out of dormancy very nicely. Course in overall great shape. Powdery sand, consistent in every bunker. Second time playing course. Impressed both times.

Great conditions

They have made some nice improvements to course conditions, sodded some formerly bare areas and took out a few trees. Grass in fairways is coming in already and greens are rolling smoothly, although a bit slower than a couple of weeks ago. Great value. Just need to train staff up a bit on quicker check in and check out process at register.

Excellent course pace of play was awful

I played the Monday after Easter so maybe that had something to do with it, but the pace of play was horrible. It seemed like the T times were poorly managed. However, the overall course was beautiful. I will definitely give it another chance.

Course is in great shape. But don't go if it's rained in the last 10 days they prefer that the course not to have any dampness at all or it'll be cart path only,and it's not an easy course for that.

Wow - what a course

Been playing around Atlanta region and exploring all the courses..

This is one of the more stunning courses

Arrowhead is about an hour from Athens

Still that makes it an incredible value.

Conditions for early March were excellent

Greens were slow but hard to make a pitch mark and nice to see some green on the fairways

Layout is wonderful - especially back nine

Tees are generally in good conditions

We played Lake Lanier and this is comparable layout..

It is a state park golf course but the cost is wonderful value for the quality
