Sapelo Hammock Golf Club

Our foursome had great time. The weather was perfect (mid 80;s) and the beauty of the course was outstanding!

Great place, greens need a little work and Tee boxes, course seems to be on the very dry side so surprising for this time of the year especially after all the rain we have received recently.

Fairways and greens where in excellent condition. Teeboxs had some patchy areas but had no affect bc face it. Tee it high and let it fly.

This course has a great layout, in great conditions, and the staff is always nice.

The layout and scenery is exceptional. The course design is challenging with several forced carries. Must be in position for your approaches. Bunkers were well maintained, the tee boxes need work. The greens were a tale of two sides - the front were ‘ok’, but back were very good. Green speed was on the slow side, but consistent. 8th green was the exception, being fast and artificially colored. Fairways are not over seeded so are typical of area with semi dormant Bermuda and sandy tight lies. Rough same, very playable. Pace of play was great. This course is owned by about 190 families who bought the closed course several years ago. After golf we met a group of them chilling on club house porch and they were super friendly and proud of the improvements they have made (5 million $ so far) and are making more, following the recommendations of a consultant (cut trees so the sun can do its thing.!). This is why the back greens are so different than the front in my opinion). Electric carts were newish, clean and sand bottles both sides. Clubhouse well maintained, but kitchen closes at 3pm so we could not indulge. Restrooms on course were excellent. Nearby Hunters Cafe is a treat and it’s own story as long as you don’t mind a ‘dive’. The members recommended places further away perhaps because they felt we were upscale folks, but we totally enjoyed Hunters - the reviews are accurate. . We drove here from Amelia Island in FL and our friends from Hilton Head - approx 1.5 - 2 hrs each. Worth it. Looking forward to playing again next year and monitor the changes. The range is ordinary but balls included. The practice green doubles as the chipping area/ bunker practice. 60 - 80 degrees brings out the sand gnats so be prepared.

Pace of play. Horrible but not the course fault just the group in front of us ... The course looks like it has a big shortage of watering and tee boxes need some work.

Except for a couple worked on patches the greens were exceptional. Every other course I've played in the general vicinity have all been terrible. Greens make or break the enjoyment of playing a golf course! Everything else about the venue was excellent too!

The course offers a challenge while being accessible to higher handicap golfers. The greens and fairways were in great shape. Bring bug spray!

Sapelo Hammock is the best maintained course I have played on so far this year. I play every week so I have played many courses. The greens are in perfect condition. A few tee boxes need some work, but there was staff working on the course. Maintaining bunkers, spraying fertilizer/weed control, etc. you will not go wrong playing this course. It is challenging yet playable at the same time. Scenic views on both front and back nine. The staff is very friendly and professional. I also found out they have a room for rent above the club house and you can book it with discount tee times. There is a balcony on the west side of the room facing the 18th hole. The sunset must be amazing!

Lack of ball and club washers on course or on the carts

Is not acceptable.

Nice quite course in good shape, if you go when the weather's nice bring the bug spray! The sand Nats are vicious.
