It is all relative
There are a number of nicer courses for less in the area of Brunswick. It is one of only two public courses on St. Simons Island and is the least expensive on the island. The course quality has steadily been sacrificed to housing development. It is my least favorite course in the Brunswick area. The King and Prince course on SSI is much nicer but more costly.
The west side is challenging
The course was average in conditions but challenging. It is only 9 holes on this side. For the price I would play it again.
Good value
We had signed up for 18 holes and zipped through the first nine in 1.5 hours. However, we were directed to the West Course for the second nine and waited for 10 minutes while three young men tried to tee off. Obviously their first time on a golf course. Furthest drive went about 75 yards. Worse after that. We turned around and called it a day. The courses were in good condition and offer plenty of challenge to any handicap.
Very Good Course
Challenging off the tee with several tight fairways. New bunkers and the greens were in very good shape. Very receptive to all shot types.
The course is in wonderful condition
The greens are excellent, and you get a true roll. The fairways are in perfect shape. The bunkers, for the most part are good, the one on the left side if the 9th hole could use a little more sand, but other than this course is sweet.
Great course
this offers great scenery. This course offers challenging holes and requires accurate shots. Par 3s are rather long usually over water and protected by multiple sand traps. Par 4s present short holes with great dangers (risk vs reward) . I love the different types of challenging shots you have to execute.
Much improved.
I had played this course this summer and was pleased with the work they had done on it. My husband had last played it when it wasn't in good shape and I wanted him to see how nice it now was. They have some interesting holes and water can come into play especially with a bad shot. Not many carries over water, but's it there to find. No scenic views but a nice layout. Will be looking forward to playing it again.
Course on nice shape for winter play
Club house is under renovation, but Greenroom was very cozy for after round drink and appetizer. Well worth the money.
Thanksgiving round
Course in good shape. Ranger acted irritated I was a single.
Some Palms No Sea
This is a nicely varied course running through the residential subdivisions of Sea (St Simons) Island, with some undemanding water hazards, at least off the Senior tees. It's well maintained and good value, if not at the highest rate. We were greeted before and after--a nice touch--and had a very pleasant, easy-paced round.
Beautiful Autumn day
the course was in beautiful shape! Starter and pro shop staff were so friendly and accommodating! And even though had renovations beginning that morning at the clubhouse staff made sure we were were taken care of with hot coffee and breakfast to go. Warning the Greens play fast! we will absolutely play and stay there again
great place to play
Been wanting to play here for some time. What we paid on GN was very fair.
Awesome value
Great cousre and value- I would highly recommend this course. Its in great shape and never too crowded
The most scenic of all course played
Although there was a Men's group on the course at tee time the starter sent us to 10 and the round went in 3 1/2 hours, The starter was a fantastic representative of Southern hospitality, if you collect logo balls theirs was slight disappointment. We told other course starters that it was the most beautiful we had seen, they even agreed. The rough was penal once lost sight of ball, say bye bye
Work in progress
I had to give this course a overall of 3 stars for the following reasons: When checking in, none of the staff told me that there was no on-course beverage cart and the turn house was closed down which looked like a permanent closure. Yes they did have water jugs and cups on the course but never realized it until after the turn. I traveled 90 minutes to the course and the mens locker room had no place to sit in the locker area. There was a very large table and chairs in the next room. Just seemed the mens locker room was rather deserted with no life. On course it was pretty nice with a few greens having a stray weed/crabgrass issue but after the round the attendant told me that the greens keeper is really turning the course around. Just tales time. If you never played here before, know that the driving range is about a 4-5 minute cart ride away (across the main road from # 3 green) and there is only a putting green outside the proshop. It appears they are trying their best to bring the course back to life. I'd return since they have some good holes!
Good value for a fun course
Course in very good shape. Tees, fairways and greens. Pace of play was well under 4 hours. Staff very friendly and helpful. Always see deer! Doe was laying in the shade next to 16 tee. Nice to have a gallery, not matter how small.
Much improved conditioning!
I have played the course numerous times and have to say that it is currently in the best condition I've experienced. Hats off to the crew!
Saint Simons Gem
Beautiful, well maintained course with friendly staff. For the GolfNow price it was a real bargain. We had driven by this course many times and decided it was time to try it out. Will definitely play it again.
Sea Palms
A nice course that is well-maintained. The greens were immaculate but the course lacked character to me, something that a lot of the courses in the area have. It was morning and the pace of play was quite slow for how few of people were on the course. I liked the course, I just like about 4 courses in the area better
Amazed
I'm truly shocked that a course can charge such a high fee for such a low quality course. I didn't see a single fairway that was in good shape between them being burnt up and different patches of grass and weeds everywhere. The second cut was extremely deep. The bunkers looked nice but we try to avoid those so what's the point in nice bunkers on a bad course.
We have made great strides in the improvement across the board with course conditions and levels of service. Most all of the comments (please read more) attest to that. Human nature that it is, some people will never be satisfied, no matter what the product or price.
