Pricey but happy
I really liked the course. A little on the pricey side (just under $70). And that was a hot-deal. But, it was part of a golfing trip, so I didn't mind. The carts were kid of new but a little dirty. We were informed at the pro-shop that they were booked full , but t-times were on schedule. Arrived at 1st tee on time, but no starter. Another group showed up at the same time. We offered to let them go ahead of us, but they declined. Our group isn't slow but not in a hurry either. So, from time to time they were pushing us. It's a long course and on a busy day, we played in about 4 hours. Perfectly fine. One criticism. We wanted to play the blue/Grey blended tees. But it seemed like we were always playing the blues. I called the pro-shop. They explained how they do it. Advice for anyone playing this course in the future. Check to find out how it works. Also, I would hope the course would address the issue next time they get new scorecards. 1 last thing. Tees at 18 (par 5) very confusing. On this side of the marsh were the black tees. And from the tips about 500 yards, with a long drive across the marsh to fairway. A good hole for big hitters. There was 3 other tee areas on that side. But the defined tees (blue & gray were on the other side of the marsh, and playing less than 400 yards. Unacceptable for a particular 5. I teed off at the front area and hit over the marsh, which I made the fairway, and eventually parred the hole. It was just confusing.
Much better condition than a lot of courses in Jax right now
Great Course
The course is win outstanding condition, has a very interesting design, wide fairways, true greens of moderate speed. Bunkers have plenty of sand but also small pebbles. Very playable, not overly hard.
Osprey Cove is great right now
I had the pleasure of playing this week leading up to their member/guest. The staff was very accommodating, and the course is in as good of shape as you could expect for early April. Tee to green the course is in great shape.
Used to be a gem
What was once a great course has degraded to a low grade public course in a very short time. The bunkers are all mud, not sand. It seems that they have suffered a complete irrigation failure as the grass is brown and dying. Many greens are covered in poa annua with no evidence or any remediation being taken. A couple of the greens also appear to be having sections dying off due to being scalped to tight. There are multiple areas of the course that can best be described as ground under disrepair. The layout is great and the views are great but the playability is very poor at best.
Great course
Great course, great condition. Shot my first 72 ever so this course will have a special spot for me.
Tricky undulating fast greens
Nice layout
Wouldn’t recommend walking this course due to very long distances between holes.
Greens very hard and won’t hold an approach shot unless you’re a low handicap
Lots of bunkers on fairways as well as around the greens. Many of them very deep
Not a single ballwasher on the course or on any cart
Didn’t see one trash bin on the course.
This should be addressed.
Spring fling
We love this course, and drive 30 minutes from Amelia Island. It is worth it.
