ATTACK OF THE FLYING/BITING INSECTS
The course fairways/greens/bunkers were in good shape and well maintained. The issue was the swarming and attacking flying insects. With the exception of the Par 3 and Par 4 in the midst of the windy marsh area, we found ourselves rushing shots and literally hurrying off the greens due to the highly aggressive biting horse flies and other flying insects that kept swarming around us. They seemed to follow the cart from hole to hole, and we only found relief while moving. As soon as we stopped to hit our shots, they were biting us and trying to fly into our ears, noses, eyes, and mouths.
The course should either have the entire area sprayed to kill these pests or plant vegetation that deters this nuisance. I wouldn't mind playing the course again without those creatures present, but we literally found the front 9 nearly unplayable due to the aggressive flying insects.
It was LITERALLY the LEAST ENJOYABLE round of golf that I and my playing partner ever experienced. It definitely was not worth the premium that the course cost.
Delayed by corporate outings
What a great facility and staff. Tees, fairways and greens were all in great shape and the course is beautiful. Other than our start being delayed by two corporate groups playing scrambles, everything was perfect. Another corporate group started behind us, but we only saw those in front of us or behind us when the paths crossed as we went out to the four holes on the island. Highly recommend and will play it more the next time I'm in Saint Simon.
Smith
My favorite course On SSI. A little pricy except on Golf Now.
Thank you
Good golf in an attractive setting!
I liked the courteous staff from the cart people to the pro shop staff. The setting is very attractive, with marshlands and homes. Everything appeared to be in good shape and well cared for, from the greens to the tees. Overall, it was a pleasant experience!
Amazing course
Love it. Played early and beat the pro to the course. The course was great and greens were awesome! Love the layout and the views and everything about it. Will play on next visit again.
First class potential
An older classic course that needs some attention and tender loving care, worthwhile playing.
Hidden scenic jewel
This is a lovely course at the north end of St. Simons Island well worth the drive for the scenery alone but it also happens to be a challenging place to play -- particularly from the longer tees . There are postcard marsh views, including four holes on the back nine right through a coastal marsh environment. The par 5 there demands precision or you will lose a ball or maybe two. The rest of the course is surrounded by Georgia pines and forest lush enough to draw deer and plenty of wildlife and you hardly notice the homes in the quiet community. One warning: In the summer, the bugs can be abundant so be prepared.
Nice Challenge
Great course layout mixing nice views of the marshes along with a challenging routing. Fairways were in fairly good condition and the greens were rolling fast and true. Friendly and helpful staff; very good driving range; well stocked pro shop and snack bar. Tee boxes accommodate different skill levels and offer a fair challenge from any set you choose to play. This course is a step up from the other public course on the island and worth a visit.
Wildgolf Unlimited
I love The King & Prince Golf Course at Hampton Point on St. Simons Island. It’s beautiful and often challenging, especially in the marsh holes in the back nine. Someday I would like to go on safari with alligator hunters to retrieve all the lost golf balls in the marshes, woods, and lakes.
Great course
A great golf course with a very challenging layout. A course all levels of golfer should play.
Watch the cups!!!!
Woke up super early, drive from Savannah. Gnats were out. Greens were super fast. Tee to green was what I expected from a resort course. Only criticism would be is to warn the golfers that you just painted the cups. The first hole I got white paint on my hands and my black pants because I put my ball in my pocket. I went to pro shop and the lady working said that the paint might come out. Wow!!!! Not the response I was looking for. She handed me a card. Said call this guy and sent me on my way.To say the least it was on my mind, they weren't cheap pants.
Great course
Beautiful place to play and great layout. The course is in great condition and the staff is awesome.
Love the marsh trail holes
Great course and plenty of scenic holes throughout round. Love the back 9 holes and the beautiful marsh trail holes. Excellent fairways, soft sand and manicured quick greens. Glad I stopped at St. Simmons and really enjoyed the golf experience.
Great layout
Course in great condition. Greens were smooth and quick. Fun course.
Good value
Front side is ok, though a lot of driving in subdivisions...back nine are why you play hete...challenging holes, great views and wildlife
Seriously??? White paint?? That's the reason you gave this gem 3/5 stars? Suck it up buttercup.
