First time playing, won't be the last
I played this course because it is on Golf Advisor's Top 25 of Georgia list. It is a mountain course even though it’s not really in the mountains with several holes having deep drops or big hills. There is one par 5 with a split fairway that you have to be far left or right to avoid the trees in the middle. Due to the drop offs and woods close to the fairway you need to be accurate off the tee. The greens were in excellent shape. There was no food except candy and drinks. The ranger and pro shop staff were very friendly. I will play this course again after the grass greens for the summer. Excellent value for the money.
Wonderful day at the end of winter
The course was in excellent condition with fairways hard and fast and the greens rolling pure. First time I have ever driven the green on hole number 2 from the blue tees and I am a senior rate golfer. My wife included had one of her best rounds ever driving off the tee on 11, 13 and 17 with less than 50 yards to the greens. Always a great course, and this time of the year the fairways have not yet grown in; so they roll hard like out west in Texas or New Mexico. Take yourself to highland and enjoy a great course.
Great value
For the price it can't be beat. Late winter so conditions were only fair although the greens were good for the time of year. Few people to impede play. Staff is a mixed bag, some really friendly others not so much. Could use more and newer ball washers. Carts are ok. Some holes require placement more than distance. Greens are undulating some are deceptive in the breaks.
Good greens
Greens were very good. Course definitely wet in a bunch of areas but that is COMPLETELY understandable this time of year.
Very nice layout
One really nice public course, well worth the one hour drive. We played a day after a full day of rain with freezing rain overnight. The course wasn’t wet at all by noon. We played 18 without anyone in front or behind us.
The course had plenty of hills and rolling fairways. It was challenging and fun! We will need to comeback in the spring/summer. Quite a difference from Ohio this time of year.....
Always dependable, never disappoints
This course is in good shape 365 days a year! It’s a challenging layout, it’s never very busy. If you’re in the area you should check it out!
A hidden gem
For a public State course it is maintain very well. The layout of the course is beautiful and it can play tough and fair if that makes any sense.Like any course you have to put yourself in the right position. This course has a large putting green as well as a separate chipping green and a driving range.Trust me you will love love love it!!! Happy golfing!!!
Great course
This course is my favorite cause it’s a challenging course an it’s always kept up really well! Tee box’s could use a little work but thats every other course I feel like! But all in all great place to play!
Beautiful winter gold day
Our favorite course, and again a wonderful day in the North Georgia lowlands; on a wonderful course that we feel is the best in Georgia. Our feelings are also echoed by the increasing number of people who are now playing this course. Come play this course if you want a challenge. If you can get around a couple over par from the blues, then you can play anywhere. There is also scenic views and lots of wild life.
Hidden gem
Possibly the best greens I’ve ever played on! The Bermuda grass is a little long for the winter so the grain direction was a big factor on every putt. Low-traffic course so the greens were so soft, felt like walking on a gymnastics floor. Placement is key, I had many straight putts around the hole, but if you hit the far side there is some crazy double and triple breakers. Fairways were dormant and took nice divots, however they were pretty tight lies with lots of dead grass... no bald or dirt spots and very minimal muddy runoff areas. Tons of elevation change, a birds-eye gps is a MUST HAVE.
