Located on the west side of Hawaii (Big) Island on the Kohala Coast, the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is an iconic Hawaiian golf resort, founded by Laurence S. Rockafeller, and a member of the historic hotels of America. Robert Trent Jones Sr. built the iconic Mauna Kea Golf Course in 1964 which set the standard for Hawaiian golf at the time and remains one of the state's best resort golf courses. The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel has 252 guest rooms and suites and is part of the Autograph Collection. Features of the property include Kauna'oa Bay, a white-sand beach with water sports from snorkeling to beach activities. A Keiki kids club is available for guests daily, and there is a spa, tennis, and 2,500-square-foot fitness center. Mauna Kea Spa and Salon is also onsite. In addition to the Mauna Kea Golf Course, Hapuna Golf Course is located next door and a partner property with stay-and-play golf packages.Facts

Fantastic golf course. Played a mix of mostly the tips. But moved up on I think 4 holes. Can’t personally reach from a couple of the holes. Great great course. Wonderful day.
Wonderful place to golf, but not for players who only play once in a while. Definitely for skilled players
Excellent Round in Big Island
Course is very well maintained and it was a very enjoyable round. Lots of sand bunkers do you need to stay away from there to have a decent score
Bucket list Course
Loved this golf course. Truly spectacular views and really well maintained. Challenging course in many respects. Lots of bunkers and smaller size greens. $295 is a bit steep but worth hitting the track at Lear once while on the Big Island.
First time
Looked forward to playing this course and have played three other courses on big island. For the price, I was disappointed with how few holes were adjacent to or had good views of the ocean. I also felt the greens were quite small and the terrain was too steep with a lot of elevated greens. I understand this was the design intent but not for me and certainly not for anyone with a higher handicap.

Booked as a single. Starter was good enough to put me with a three some. Great group. Very enjoyable round. We played in 3+25 minutes and never waited on a shot.
Course was in great shape and the layout is very good with scenic spots every time you turn around.
I’ll be back for sure!
The Jewel of the Big Island.
Second time playing this beautiful golf course and I love every single minute of it. I played other courses and I wasn’t too impressed. Mauna Kea is a golf course you will always remember. Can’t wait to play it again.

The layout is great, course conditions great and the views AMAZING!!! The course is worth every penny.
Re-opening after Covid
The Mauna Kea course has just reopened at the beginning of the month and it is in great shape and the people at the course cannot have been nicer
