Challenging par 3's
Good bang for buck!
We'll maintained except for sand traps
a walkable course...once is enough
would be a good deal for $40 compared to what else is available there are several courses that are far better for the same price or $10 more...the greens are in poor condition
Cheap golf- you get what you pay for
The course is about 20 minutes from the water. The course was very open and good for novice golfers. It's pretty difficult to lose a ball on the course. There is water on only the final hole. As we were heading out I was asked to pay a riding fee for my wife who decided not to golf- the course was empty, so I sort of disagreed with it as she wasn't taking anyone else' ability to golf that day. My primary issue with the course were the sand traps; they were literally rocks. They should call them rock traps. To the point were I would take a free drop behind the bunker because I didn't want to ruin my wedges.
the best golf club in big island...
Waikoloa golf club is one of my favorate,it is so nice course and the fairway's condition is as good as private club and the best thing is the cart.good condition and roomy.I want to play every time there..
This course is in excellent shape.
I found this course to be player friendly. The fairways are fairly wide and the rough is cut short. This helps pace of play. This is an excellent course for the average 20+ handicap, from the white tees. The only thing is the sand traps have "pea gravel" not sand in them.
Nicely maintained.
Good layout, not an overly difficult course. Good for novices. I would play again.
Course has heavy grained sand but getting out of the traps easier than you'd think when first encountered. Just think "heavy rough & follow through.
Enjoy this hidden diamond of a course; price is reasonable and staff are great. Winds can blow but still enjoyable play.
Very nice course and golfing experience
This isn't a fancy place but it is well maintained and in good condition. We were fortunate on the day we played, it was sunny and only slight breezes. My impression is that this is a "golfer's" golf course where many locals play. The course is fair but has its challenges without gimmickry. I would definitely play this course again, it was enjoyable and a fair test of ability.
Nice, but not exceptional
Great panoramic views and lots of wildlife make up for a rather wide open, forgiving, somewhat mundane layout. We paid full price (which was disappointing since there was nobody there) but still enjoyed our round. The course was in good shape but needed more water in the lakes. The greens rolled true but somewhat slow which ruined birdie opportunities. Still all in all, the cool breezes was a nice relief from the coastal heat 15 minutes dow the hill at the resorts.
Loved it; loved it; loved it!!!!
Great day of golf with great conditions. The wind even cooperated for most of the round. Unbelievable views were a totally unexpected surprise.
Great golf experience!
This course was in really good condition. I like the wide fairways so I did not lose as many balls as I usually do. I also enjoy the elevated tees and the water hazards.
I would play it again.
the course was a mountain course, some holes you had to hit a 9-iron 181 yards.some holes you had a side hill lie or downhill lie but overall the courses in good shape really enjoyed it and the rental clubs that I used were great. Most of all the vistas overlooking the island and the ocean we're just outstanding!
Great location but average hole layout.
A nice little course with some dog legs and one hole with water.
Could have used better sand in the bunkers.
Good course if wind is not blowing the ball across the green
We know this course well. We play it often, but if we arrive and the wind is blowing, we find other things to do that day. (The course is known by Kama'aina as Waikoblowa). We have a visitor from the mainland, and the rate on one tee time yesterday was equal to a Kama'aina rate, so we booked all 4 thru Golfnow.com. On arrival, the wind was blowing such there were very few golfers due to weather. However because of the prepay policy, we were basically fored into a terrible round of golf. This is the last time I plan to use this service to save a few dollars.
Great vistas on the course.
The first thing I noticed was the wind. There was a small craft warning for the local waters and the wind on the course reflected this. The balls wavered on the tee and moved when putting on the greens. Greens were very dry and they were difficult to get a consistent roll when putting. I did enjoy the beautiful clear vistas of Mauna Kea with its observatories and the majesty of Mauna Loa. Upon finishing I remarked to the staff that I would come again when there was less wind. They were very insistent that I would love the course when it was not such a windy day. I'll be back to take them up on that. Mahalo
Lots of challenges but with wide fairways.
This was the first course my husband and I played during our stay on the Big Island. The pace was brisk, but unhurried. The greens were a little humbling and made us work for a par! How can you not have a great time...you are golfing in one of the most beautiful places on earth! Tom and MaryEllen W.
Good deal
This is a nice course. It only has water on a few holes, but is fun to play. It was a very good deal.
It was a fair test for a high handicapper like me.
I had a great time on this course, it was difficult enough to make it interesting but not so much it wasn't fun. I would definitely play it again given the chance and would gladly recommend it. The greens were rather slow and had remnants of being aerated but didn't affect play much.
Fun course at great value with nice views
Played this course with my daughters (9 & 11yrs old) and had a great time. One note for junior golfers though - its only $20 for junior golfers to play here. Unfortunately, I had already booked our threesome thru Golf Now at the discounted adult prices, which was a lot more than the junior rate! A nice feature for Golf Now would be to allow booking for juniors or at least publish junior rates.
We finished in about 4 hours with lots of breaks to take pictures and enjoy the views - but note we set our own pace since only 2 or 3 other groups were on the course.
11 yr old and I played whites (6230yds) and 9 yr old played reds (5501yds). The tee setups were a good mix of easy and challenging and our only complaint was that the whites versus reds difficulty for any given hole wasn't consistent - eg. Reds were 40yds closer than whites for both a 500yd par 5 as well as a 170yd par 3.
Course conditions were good. Fairways consistent with no bare spots. Short forgiving rough. Smooth greens. Only negative is that small grained gravel is used for the bunkers instead of sand.
The staff was beyond super friendly and we will return on that fact alone! The lady in the pro shop gave the girls some SPAM musubi for lunch!
Overall a great experience!
Couples golf
My wife and I enjoyed playing here as it was not intimidating for her and yet challenging for me. A combination that is difficult to find. bring your own lunch!
