Great value Course
Picked up a Hot deal on this RTJ junior track. Never get tired of playing this course
Course condition is slipping
While this is a beautiful course location and I enjoyed our round there is definitely room for improvement.
While the people in the office were very friendly, the starter was busy giving golf tips to a woman one the driving range and was clueless as to what was happeningon the course. For example, he held us up because he said a foursome had just gone out and walked away. After waiting for another 5 minutes I walked over to where he was talking with the women and asked if we could go to the 1st tee. He said OK, but when we got there we found there was another couple on the tee that we were supposed to be paired with. We were both surprised since the starter had not bothered to inform either couple that we were a foursome.
All four players in our group agreed that the course conditions have deteriorated. Examples here include only about 1/4 inch of sand and liner showing in many bunkers; greens appeared scored and very rough; and some fairways were burned out in spots.
There was no Marshall and pace of play was a little slow on the front nine, but picked up on the back where some players ahead of us dropped out after playing 9. There was also no refreshment cart, but we were provided bottles of water and ice with the golf cart. There is no GPS on the carts so bring your own if you use one.
All in all, we met some great people to play with and had a fun round, but all of us were a little disappointed that the course is not what it once was.
Amazing beach course and views
The course was amazing but the wind was very tough to deal with!
Large open forgiving fairways!
Course was amazing but the high winds made it challenging often going up 2-3 clubs and down 1-2 clubs. The wide fairways were nice. The course was further off the beach and up in the hills more than I had thought
Like this course
Has easy and difficult holes. A challenge for most
Players.
Nice option to the resort courses
First course played on the island and adjusting to the turf and wind made play a bit more challenging. Played two other resort courses and found the rough here more punishing than the other two. The bunkers have pea gravel instead of sand and that was another adjustment.
Overall well maintained and in good condition with great views.
Fun Upcountry Course
Was looking for a nice course but didn’t want to spent $250 plus a round. Read the recent reviews and was ready to give it a try. Course was really nice and the staff were great. Kept us in the loop on when we should head to the first tee. Course was a cool layout with pretty generous fairways. The greens appeared to have been recently vertical-cut but rolled pretty nice despite. I would recommend and at the hot deal price of $28.00. Yes so so worth it.
Windy but Fun
Nice course with beautiful ocean views. unfortunately it was extremely windy the day we played, couldn't wear a hat because it kept flying off. It was expensive to play, most golf courses in Hawaii are. Course was in good shape and the staff were all friendly and helpful.
Best bang for your buck on the Big Island
I’ve played this course several times. Staff are always friendly, course is usually in good shape and pace is generally 4 hours or less. This time I had an 8:06 tee time and played in 3.5 hours with a gentleman that was local. It’s been a joy every time I go and definitely best bang for your buck in the area.
