About Wailea Golf Resorts (Maui)
Wailea is a Hawaiian resort and residential community in south Maui. It is home to three 18-hole golf courses and a collection of luxury beachfront hotels that offer stay-and-play Hawaii golf packages. Among the brands that are partners with the Wailea Golf Club are the Destination Resorts Hawaii, Fairmont Kea Lani Maui, Four Seasons Resort Maui, Grand Wailea, Hotel Wailea and the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. An Andaz Wailea was also recently added. Fine dining is available at each resort as well as at the Wailea Golf Club's Gold & Emerald course, while an Irish pub is at the Old Blue clubhouse. Five crescent beaches make up Wailea, as well as a Tennis Club and a collection of private homes, condominiums and villas. The Gold and Emerald courses play out of the same clubhouse and were designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. Old Blue is the original Wailea course, opened in 1972 and was designed by Jack Snyder.Facts

Wailea Golf Club Review
My two boys and I played this course back in June. Our third trip to Maui. If you are on this side of Maui, this is one of the nicest, friendly layouts in Maui. Perfect for first-timers. Lots of slope on the fairways but the greens are fairly flat and not too fast. Some elevation changes on holes but just makes the shots more interesting. Most holes have a nice view of the ocean, which of course, is awesome. Fairly wide open fairways. Great condition. Great staff. After finishing, we just sat out by the clubhouse and soaked it all in. Can't go wrong here. BBoz / Shreveport, LA
Beautiful views made it hard to concentrate on the golf. Great people in the clubhouse.
Unbelievable Course and Views
A beautiful course in a beautiful location. What more could you ask for? The course is very challenging, but fun, and there are amazing views of the ocean throughout the course. Jungle and heavy bush surround many of the holes so make sure you can keep it straight! Will be back to play this one.
Fun course to play
Nice layout and average difficulty for a bogey golfer. Course in excellent condition and the staff was super friendly.
Blame it on the Views!
I didn't play my usual perfect (not) 18 holes but can blame it on the course itself. The views are like non other and can lull you to another place between each hole. So, the magnificent views, coupled with the most beautifully kept grounds I've ever played, are the reasons I may have played beneath my typical par.
Stunning course
This course was beautifully laid out and had stunning views. Everything was first class from staff to course maintenance. They even have a great restaurant to enjoy after your round.
A Maui gem
I've not played the Emerald, so I can't declare the Gold the best course at Wailea, but I have heard people say it is. I can see why. It's a very pleasant experience. The backdrops of the ocean are beautiful, and so is the landscaping. The holes are well laid out. While they are challenging, they are not penal. This is resort golf at its finest. Most come to Maui to chill, and Wailea provides those calming island vibes.
GOLD COURSE GREAT! EMERALD? BETTER!
I've played the Emerald at Wailea three times prior, so I thought it was time to give the other course a try. It was similar to the Emerald, but two significant changes. One, it has less views. With the exception of one hole, the views were pretty limited. Compare that to the Emerald, which is loaded with gorgeous ocean views of Molokini and more. I would def suggest the Emerald over the Gold for that experience. Second, the Gold course was a bit harder. Sloped a 130 from one up tee box. While it wasn't too challenging, I did notice tighter tree lines (was in 'em) and some quality approach shots to a small green that rolls of the green and almost in a bunker. My buddy who is a higher handicap didn't have as much relative trouble based on his driving distance etc. So, I would say it's very player friendly for a higher handicap. I'm a mid handicap, play to a 9-11 depending. In summary, do the Emerald unless you feel like you need a greater challenge.
Wow what a course.
Paired up with strangers and had a blast playing this golf course.
Challenging shots are rewarded when executed properly.
Would recommend to anyone wanting to have fun playing golf.
Have fun in Wailea
Great, friendly, helpful staff.
Beautiful course with challenging shots and grand views.
Will play again.
Another perfect day at Gold
I can never say enough about Wailea Gold. The course is always in great condition. Even though we played with sanded greens we had a great time. The fairways are wide and roll. One of the best courses in Hawaii.
Perfect Hawaiian golfing
I always make sure I play at the Wailea Golf club in Maui. The course is located in the Wailea area of Maui. We stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani or the Grand Wailea when we come to vacation. The course is always in immaculate condition with the friendliest and accomodating staff you can find. I've played at and stayed at Pebble Beach and would have to say Wailea Golf club is beyond better in comparison to customer service. You can never have a bad round there because the views alone just makes you forget the troubles you are having on the course. I will always make a stop there whenever I am in Maui!
Like playing at Disneyland
I loved, loved, loved the course and kick myself for not playikng the Emerald course as well.
The tee boxes, fairways, sandtraps and greens were all in fantastic shape. When you throw in the gorgeous ocean views and awesome landscape, it's easy to forget I just dropped 2 bills to chase a little white ball. No matter, this is my mecca.
Solid Choice on Maui
Definitely the toughest of the courses at Wailea. Front 9 of the Gold course is more interesting than the back. Nicely conditioned and pace of play was about 4:15 on a busy Saturday. Definitely worth the play if you’re staying at one of the Wailea resorts.
Second time better than the first
I played this course 8 years ago during my wedding and it was just as amazing this time as it was then. Perfect conditions and amazing staff. Best course I've ever played
Beautiful day in paradise!
Great views throughout the golf course. Course was in great shape. Excellent happy hour in the bar! Was staying in Kaanapali but well worth the drive.
Not the emerald or gold
If you expecting the emerald or gold type layout - this isn’t it. Be sure to know this is the course that’s close to the Marriott and shopping Center. - most golfers are looking g for the courses part the kea Lani. The course is in good shape- just not the same challenge as the other two
Favorite course in Maui
My wife and I played the Emerald course and it was our favorite in Maui (we also played Kapalua Bay Course). Played in the afternoon and the views were breathtaking. Only complaint was when we rented clubs, we didn’t receive any sleeves of balls, which is a tad inconvenient for travelers. Other than that, it was an incredible experience all around. Must play!
