Only took me 30 years! Photo submitted by rjhmu on 11/04/2012
too short
I paly 1 st time this golf course. But too short and too small golf course.
Always a nice course
Course Is very well kept some of the greens need work but to be expected in May .
I like that they added some more sand traps
Making more challenging to play
Keep it in the short grass
From the tips, this 20 handicap shot 87, a week after shooting 107 at another course of similar difficulty. If you hit the ball far up & down your bag, you may not need your driver much. Go for the fairway and club down. The rough is THICK, deceptively so in many cases. Overall, it's a very playable track that most average golfers should enjoy. Facilities are 4 star.
worthwhile resort run
played from the tips 6000 yds the fairways were excelent the rough was up to fives inches pitch out ,take your medicine or youll pay triple the price the greens were slow and lumpy only because of the spring airation about 80% healed a great course for the golf now deal
Short, but challenging
This year Eaglewood has stepped it up! In years past they have been renovating the greens but now everything is in good shape. The staff is always very helpful and friendly and the course is short but tough. Very nice clubhouse with clean facilities. Food is always good and the drinks are always cold!
Course layout was beautiful.
The grass in some fairways and some greens needed manicuring.
Not the best place to spend your day playing
On course conditions were definitely not up to par I know it's early in the season still but why place your rates high when the course conditions are not high the ground was potholed at t boxes greens were as sandy as the bunkers with large airation holes took almost 5 hours to play a round as a two some staff was not friendly at all if you could even find someone had to wait for the starter to show up for 10 min stopped in the club house after playing 9 wanting a few drinks and hot dogs to find no one working in the bar I have played this course many times before and this was by far my worst experience
Fantastic Greens @ Eaglewood
Greens are in FANTASTIC shape this year!! No greens are under construction from the following years! Come on out and play the staff is fantastic! Dave, John, and Ben know how to treat a golfer as soon as you come threw their door! OH and don't forget to stop at Eaglewoods restaurant after your round the food and beer selections are spectacular! The burger I had was amazing!
Medinah in the background
Nothing bad to say about this course it has a some cool traditions
great time
Very nice place, I would play again with my friends !
Pleasantly Surprised!
I had not ventured out to the old Nordic Hills in almost 20 years and a $17 hot deal with fairly empty tee sheet convinced me to give it a whirl. The overall course maintenance far exceeded my expectations.....the greens were in great shape/average speed (not aerated) and there was even grass seed in the divot mix! More than 50pct of the far too numerous sand traps were in decent shape and maintained/raked. A beverage cart with craft beer in cans (although it was pricey). I had a four star experience but the course itself "suffers" from the following -
a) it's a "short" course under 6000 yds from the back tees and these distances create significant slow play when the course is crowded....if you can drive the ball over 200 yards plus off the tee you'll be using your gap wedges for numerous approach shots and so prepare to wait a lot and heads up as several holes are close together and you are in the line of fire on several tee boxes from groups behind you and adjacent to you.
b) there are a lot of average to very below average golfers who play this place (resort and spa guests) and there are so many deep sand traps around green sites to avoid/navigate this in turn promotes even slower play as many hit two or three shots to get out of the traps, then have to rake them and then have to climb out of them.
c) the Par 3's - 205 with water carry, 185 with too many sand traps around it, 175 with a sand trap fronting most of the green - all too long for the average to below average golfer promoting further slow play and really not enough variety, There's also a 91 yard par 3 which still causes a duffer trouble with 4, 5's and 6's easily attained.
All that being said it was a fairly fun play allowing many short iron approaches...the course was in very decent shape....a real shock that it was that good. There are 3 fairly strong par 5's but far too numerous lay up/very short Par 4's. If the tee sheet is empty and you can get a rate of $30 or less it's a decent deal and worth it....but on a weekend or when it's crowded count on easily 4 1/2 hours and likely more to get a round in (even when fairly empty envision the average 4-some would play in well over 4 hours). I might even consider returning prior to the seasons end if the price is right.
ITS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE A LITTLE JEWEL HIDDEN AMONG 100 YEARS OLD TREE
Very nice place to play.Everyone very helpful and nice,.John the guy in Pro shop is very good.Head Pro always welcome the golfers and offers any help we need with anything.
Good place I will go there again.

Fond memories of this course
I "learned" to play golf on this course when it was Nordic Hills back in the mid-80's. They changed the resort building, cut down a few trees and improved the 18th green, but the course is much the same as it was back then. It's a short course on the card but challenging if you hit into the mature trees. The layout and atmosphere are great fun. It's close to 355 and a good value for the money. I love it.
Short, but fun course
Course is extremely short, even from the tips. Bunkers and contoured greens add some challenge, but woods are not really necessary on any hole so that diminishes the challenge some. Course is well maintained. Nice putting green but no driving range. Pace of play is slow, partially due to the shortness of the course.
Fun Course
Eaglewood has completed their course renovation since the last time I was there & what a great surprise!! It was so nice to play such a challenging course with really good conditions including all holes. Greens are fast & sloped so bring your best putting abilities. The par 3's are very challenging as well. Deep bunkers are really tough to get out of as well as the thick rough. Would go back again sometime very soon. Really enjoyed playing there.
tough bunkers tough greens
the course was a challenge because of the wind & the deep sand traps
slow slow slow
Pace of play was so slow you were waiting close to ten minutes between EACH shot. Ridiculous!
Told the marshall and he went the opposite direction which made it unplayable. Finished nine and left.
115 slope is eidiculous!
Eaglewood is well kept, interesting, thought provoking, and challenging. This is a much more difficult 6,000 yard course than usual!
Good course
We played on a Wednesday morning and it was especially busy- have a 30 person outting. The pace of play was a little slow because of the group in front of us but we didn't mind. What did bother us was the multiple tree trimming crews around the course having no regard for the players shooting or riding to the next hole.
Short, but challenging...
Eaglewood can, at times, be a long round, but usually it's a good experience & value. Don't be fooled either. It's a short course, by anyone's definition, but your have hit shots throughout the round. All in all, it's a course worth playing.
