A great comeback story
Course has rebounder splendidly from the water damage sustained a few seasons ago. Fairways are nice to hit from, rough is appropriately penalizing (but not excessively). Even the bunkers were decent, no complaints there either. Shout out to Stephanie (think that's right) @ the bar for the good post-round drinks & conversation. I had stayed away from Cranes Landing for year's after the course sustained enormous damage due to flooding 7 or 8 years ago. This course is ONCE AGAIN, BACK IN ROTATION! Great value too!
Excellent challenge
Great layout and greens in great condition. If shoot your handicap you had a very good round.
Good good & bad
This is one of the best laid out golf courses in the Midwest. It is like a southern resort golf course with trees, water, and narrow fairways. Unfortunately, I assume, that they don’t have the budget of a publicly owned course. The fairways are in decent condition, but the greens are rough. The head pro, Eric, is one of the best teaching pros in Chicagoland. The staff is quite friendly. However, there really are no facilities. This course was designed with plush amenities in mind. They’ve been abandoned. The locker room was designed as in a nice country club, but, is now just dank. The restaurant has been abandoned. The clubhouse has for sale beer and golf balls. That’s it. This course and this staff deserve better. That being said, this course is well worth playing.
Good value
You get what you p[ay for !
Enjoyable 18 with a very very challenging back 9
Course needs some work
The course was pretty beat up in spots. It is a shame because the course is challenging and a nice layout when it is in much better shape.
