The course was in super bad condition. Would not play again.
Crane's Landing - Poor
I decided to play this course on a whim looking to get out and play on Sunday. I have driven by the course many times always thinking what the course would be like to play.
Unfortunately the course did not meet my expectations. The course was poorly managed, the fairways and greens were so dry that it made it unplayable. I wound up walking off the course after 10 holes.
I would not recommend this course to anyone, even if it was free.
TOTAL rip off
If I could give 0 stars I would. This has become an absolute goat ranch. Took 5 hours for a round. Previous holes on greens everywhere. I actually asked a starter, "what do you have against water??" Tee boxes are dirt, good look finding grass. I paid $110 for WHAT?? This is a RESORT?!? Then hire a greens keeper!! Suspend all expectations if you have to visit for an event! This is a Marriott, it's absolutely ridiculous. The bartender, however, was lovely.
The course needs a complete face lift. Good layout. It can be one of the better
courses in the northern suburbs

Cracked Greens
I’m leaving this review for a course that I like to play and enjoy the layout. But course conditions were horrendous. All the greens were dried out, burnt out and cracked all over the place. They seriously need a new superintendent because even a blind person could tell that he’s not doing his job. I’ll be back to play when they have real greens to play on. The staff was fine unfortunately they had to take the brunt of the bad course conditions.
Condition of tees and green the worst I’ve seen in 40 years.
Played with water sprinklers ON for the front 9, no compensation as 1/4” standing water on 9/18 greens…
Shocked
Love this course…..until yesterday. It’s in terrible shape right now. Some fairways are worse than roughs. Sand is solid. Greens had landmines all over. Need to move holes less or get better at replacing them. I’ll check again next season but no way I’d play it again this year.
Solo Round
Played here several times but this time the course was in worse condition than ever. Tee boxes were beaten, fairways were dry. The greens were really trashed. Like rock hard and no grass… even the guys I played with couldn’t believe how bad they were. I usually play here because I get a good rate from Golf Now but it is hard to play and enjoy the round under this condition.
Horrible Condition, Worse Pace
The staff failed to tell anyone teeing off that the irrigation system had broken weeks ago, so the course was mostly dead grass, the greens were in horrible shape, and it was apparent they didn’t care about the conditions.
Pace of play was miserably bad. As a twosome, it took us nearly 5.5 hours to play 18 and there was little attempt to speed play up. I would not play here again.
Cheap but you get what you pay for
Greens were horrendous and the fairways were what you’d expect for the dollar. I say 3/5 only based on the fact it was $70 ish on a weekend prime time with a cart. Otherwise, I wouldn’t play here again. It’s a last resort when you can’t play anywhere else or don’t want to spend.
Worst experience ever
Teed off at 10:45 am. Sprinklers were on. No warning from staff.
Course was i.errible condition. Only one hole did not have sprinklers on. Could not go on green without getting drenched.
Got harassed by someone in another group outside the clubhouse because I was wearing a Packer hat
.
Course refused a refund instead offered a rain check. I turned down the raincheck because I would never come back
.
Horrible conditions
I wish the starter had told us that the course hadn’t been watered in weeks due to the courses irrigation issues. The tee box, fairways, and greens were unimaginable Everything was beyond brown. The fairways looked like a war zone.
The greens were so dry I was able to pull up with my fingers the hole plug that was put in a previous pin placement. There was about an inch of daylight that circled the plug and its relationship to the green. Looked like someone dropped a can of soup in a hole.
Very bad taste in my mouth.
Just telling it like it was.
NEEDS HELP!!
I was very disappointed after arriving at Cranes Landing to see the course in such poor state. For the amount of rain the area has had lately, everything looks unattended too.
The greens, fairways and tee boxes are in poor shape and in need of some water and tender loving care.
It's like the Resort has no money to spend on the course which is sad, since this course was highly rated back in the day.
Since Covid, the Bar/Restaurant has been closed, but they do have a glass cooler with limited beverages and snacks.
One positive note on my visit is the staff! Very polite, professional and attentive to requests.
If your just learning to play golf this is your course! Others take notice and stay away!
I remember playing this course when it was way nicer. Sad to see all the grass dying.
