Great weather
This is a links course - winds were moderate and temp was in the low 80s. Course was in very good condition.
Tip: stay out of the high grass. If you find your ball you’’lol Be lucky to advance it.
Fun course! The
The Links at Rising Star
Love this course! Greens and fairways are always excellent!
Rough condition
Course not in very good condition at all, expectations going in were not met
Disappointed
Course is in bad shape! Greens were horribly slow! Literally need a 3-wood to put them! Rough is 4"-6" high, fairways 1"-2" high in many places. Traps not taken care at all. Very disappointed in the shape of this wonderful layout. Way overpriced for the condition it is in at the current time! Hopefully it is only temporary.
I've always loved playing this course ....but
I've always loved playing this course ....but this is the worst shape I've seen this course in. Greens were very slow and bumpy, rough was extra long and weak ( the ball always went down to the dirt), and grass clippings were left matted on top of the grass. Hope this is only a temporary condition and the course returns to it's former condition
Ready to open/ UNPREPARED
The course opened May 1. It’s always in excellent condition. Well COVID19 hit this course hard. Greens were SANDY and slow. Bunkers disgraceful/ we get “ NO RAKES” but these are BUNKERS, overgrown crap in them. You couldn’t find your ball in a fairway , forget about the ROUGH. Don’t open your course if your not in PLAYABLE SHAPE. Will return when they bring there staff back. $35 great price, but lost $40-$60 in golf balls.
Covid Course Conditions -limited or fill in staff?
I know that things are different because of the Corona Virus but grass not cut, sand traps not trimmed or raked and some tee boxes in rough shape.
The greens had just been cut short and sanded but there was employee doing it that wouldn’t stop sanding them to let us hit our shots. Golf 101 buddy???
The fairways were being cut but they actually missed spots while cutting? The rough was 4”-6” tall and had clumps of grass up to 10” tall
The sand traps were in awful shape: not filled, raked or trimmed.
The pace of play was great for 15 holes and then BAM, dead stop and wait. No rangers on course to enforce pace of play so if you get behind a goof off foursome your at their mercy.
I got a hot deal on golfnow or I would have asked for my money back. I would never pay full price to play here. I drove 50 minutes on my day off to play this course. Think I’ll to my local courses, this one is a “don’t waste your time or money”
The "Links" lived up to it's title
The course had only been re-opened due to the Covid-19 virus for a couple of days before I played...and it showed. Not all Tee markers were out. Greens were extremely slow, rough was extremely shaggy, bunkers were not worth playing out of, and the fairways could've used another cut themselves. By the end of my round I had to wait on a group of 8...for about 6 holes...which made things less enjoyable.
The course played difficult due to all of the above plus the extremely windy conditions.
The layout of the course is pretty nice, though! In time I wanna go play it again to see if I can chalk this up to the Covid-19 disaster. Staff was very nice. Group I paired up with was friendly. It was good to be out.
Nice links course
The course was in great shape even though we have had almost no rain in a month. It is a true links layout so the absence of trees helps in the fall because there are no leaves. The tee sheet was full but we still played in 4 hours.
Golf Day
Took a day to play some new courses. Got a good deal so we decided to play. Staff friendly and efficient. Even with the dry conditions this summer the course was in great shape. Will definitely be back
Okay
Nice layout but course is not maintained very well and bunkers have very coarse sand in them.
Great Conditions
Course was in great shape and very playable. Not the most scenic, but tees, fairways and greens are well maintained.
Great conditions
Course I’m really good shape and they’ve done a nice job of citing back/down some of the high heather to make it a little more open and playable. The Golf Boards are a fun option as well.
Beautiful links style course
Well maintained course that is very beautiful with its rolling terrain. The area with the surrounding hills and river really frame the course nicely. A fair and challenging course. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. One of my favorite courses in the Midwest.
