River Marsh 8-11-2022
Thursday afternoon 1:48. Greens are very nice, bunkers very nice. Tee Boxes had little too many weeds, along with the fairways. Overall Good.
No supervision, poorly managed
Play was very slow and there was no course manager or ranger. There was a young father playing with his 8 year old, hitting multiple shots, allowing his kid to drive the cart and taking selfies. This course is part of the Hyatt which is also poorly managed. One and done for us
Anniversary round on a hot day
Love playing this golf course. Great views, challenging holes, never too crowded and close to one of our favorite resorts the Hyatt Regency.
Max is a solid dude
Max behind the counter is a solid dude with engaging conversational skills. Hole 17 is quirky with the pier tee box and that mind you is a good talking point. If that box can be tweaked a bit too allow a tee to freely in pail the turf would be a nice touch but not sure it is environmentally economically fees able. Out of managements control has to be the ball marks on the green as those that have played a considerable amount of time passed failed to fix hardly any of them. A starter or announcement of who is on the tee and who is on deck couldn’t hurt either but all in all the scenery that accompany holes such as 18 might allow players to forget the negatives.
Too Hot to Handle
Got a great rate with golf app deal and course was in great shape. Wide fairways, lots of bunkers (with good sand), and the greens were nice. Enjoyed the layout, especially the last two holes (over water on 17, and along the river on 18). The only negative was the weather… it felt like 106 degrees. I would definitely play again on a slightly cooler day.
Weird experience
This is an expensive course, not just the golf, but everything in the club house including golf balls ($44 for logo-ed up Cally Super Soft non-premium balls, etc). We played at 4pm and got stuck behind a foursome wearing jerseys and tube tops who took a basket of range balls out on the course and were hitting multiple shots from the same spot. After waiting 15 min to tee off on 5 we just skipped the hole thinking of we passed them we wouldn’t see them again, until they drove up past the tee box on 6 and just skipped the hole to get ahead of us again? There were a ton of unfixed divots in the fairways and unfixed pitch marks on the green. The bunkers were completely washed out and some were openly under construction. Other parts of the course were also under extensive construction. This course has the ingredients to be great, but isn’t being taken care of, and for the money, isn’t doing its part to protect the course and isn’t worth it.
Carts
The fairways need a marker or line to vacate the carts. 80 yard out the cart freezes to a slow crawl without warning.
