Grand Traverse Resort & Spa
About Grand Traverse Resort & Spa
The 900-acre Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in Acme became a Michigan landmark in the 1980s on the outskirts of Traverse City as its distinctive 17-floot glass tower was built adjacent to The Bear, a notoriously tough course by Jack Nicklaus. Guests have so many choices among 600 guest rooms and condos, five restaurants and lounges, the Gallery of Shops, four indoor-outdoor pools, an indoor water playground, a 7,000-square-foot spa, a private beach on Grand Traverse Bay, a large health club with five indoor tennis courts and two other courses, The Wolverine by Gary Player and Spruce Run by William Newcomb. The nearby Turtle Creek Hotel and Casino, accessible by a free shuttle, is also owned by the Grand Traverse Band of Ottowa and Chippewa Indians.Facts

Great Course and staff
We were having so much fun, we didn’t mind the slow back nine. There are six or seven tee boxes to choose from on the card, making it playable for all ages. The only area of improvement is to get a on corse Marshall to keep pace of play on track. We still finished in four hours and 40 minutes. I will definitely play it again.
Challenging course in great condition.
Exceptional layout in great conditions. Very challenging and not a course for beginner golfers. Very deep bunkers and several hazards requiring carrying over. Beautiful course.
Great Course
Beautiful course. Staff is great, we played as a twosome in 4 hours which wasn’t bad considering we’d never played the course before. You really need to think out there and plan each shot which made it a lot of fun. Stay out of the bunkers especially around the greens 🫣 Really enjoyed the course would definitely recommend.
Great layout slow play
Loved the course except tee boxes were chewed up and sand traps were very rocky.
Woman friendly and nice greens.
Staff was awesome!
Just about perfect
A truly enjoyable course to play, with 18 distinctive holes that are all in amazing condition. Do yourself a favor and put this on your list of must play courses!
Fun course to play
The staff was very friendly making an enjoyable experience. They were upgrading their sprinklers when we played that prevented play on one hole and changed another hole to a par 3.
But holes were very playable but still included some challenges on some.
Greens were in great shape.
Nice course
Overall a 5 star course, I did give 4 star for only the course condition category as a couple holes are under construction,
Challenging and fun
It really is as tough as everyone says. Just really no easy holes to relax on. 11&12 were my favorite, trees brought the shade and the vibes. Happy I played this one, course was in pristine shape.
Over priced
Very overpriced course. Anthills everywhere, muddy fairways, uneven tee boxes. For $100 you should at least have some semblance of a quality golf course. The 12th hole was under construction and closed and we were given no notice before we got there. This is closer to a $65 course in the Grand Rapids area.
