Gull Lake View Golf Resort
About Gull Lake View Golf Resort
Since the 1960s, the Scott family has transformed 2,000 acres in southwest Michigan into one of America's largest golf resort communities. Situated in the appropriately named Augusta, Michigan, near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek, Gull Lake View Golf Resort has become synonymous with affordable packages where golfers stay in comfortable villas to enjoy six different courses, all from different eras. The East and West courses were built in the mid-1960s and mid-1970s, with the two Stonehedge courses added later in 1989 and 1994. The family bought the Bedford Valley, a classic course known for hosting tournaments, in 1988 and then put the feather in the cap, debuting the linksy Stoatin Brae by Renaissance Golf Design in 2017. Those who fall in love with the experience can buy real estate in one of several neighborhoods.Facts

Pay attention to ALL details, not just the course
Always enjoy the course. This time, however, there were problems with the restrooms that were obvious and had not been addressed. Not good!
Must Play!
Super fun links style course - even for November the greens were firm and fast. The winds were blowing 25+ with gust up to 30mph which made it awesome!
The front nine is a little pedestrian, but the back nine is amazing and has some great holes. You gotta play this course when it opens back up next year.
Surprised but not impressed
Perfect golf weather in November but we were not impressed with this course. Greens were in good shape and held iron shots well. My threesome is seniors so we played the forward tees and found no real challenge in the boring layout. Views are OK if you like being on top but we were all skiers so being on top is no big deal. The fairways are wide enough to offer a good target area off the tee. We didn’t think this course offers any better experience than other Gull Lake courses.
Wide Fairways and generous greens
There is nothing to be afraid of on this course for the mid to lower handicapper, greens were in good shape I think the rollers are not out because of end of season so a little bounce here and there. Course management is very important but easy to figure out. This is always a fun play!
The temps were a little warmer than the Lakeshore, so I played here. Just another fine example of the great course selection we have in Michigan
Very forgiving, course management is key
Great place to play! A feel good course for the mid to low handicapper. A lot of leaves right now but that's to be expected, greens were in good shape I think the rollers are not out because of the leaves so a little bounce here and there, this is always a fun play!

November Golf
The course opened up after being closed for the season. They had to open because of unusually warm weather. Course was firm and greens were slow and this was to expected. The greens hadn’t been mowed in a while but still rolled fine. Great layout and the course gets really fun from 9 on thru finish. Always enjoy the links style gem
My Favorite of the Gull Lake Courses
Gull Lake has plenty of courses and I'd recommend playing all of them if you have time, but if you only have time for one or two, go with Stonehedge North! Of the Gull Lake courses in the Kalamazoo area, Stoatin Brae is probably the nicest and has the best views, but Stonehedge North is the most fun.
It is a 6-6-6 layout with plenty of birdie opportunities. It has a very up north feel to it with a lot undulation in the wide fairways and large greens. There are also some unique holes like the par 4 7th, par 3 11th, and par 5 14th.
Even in late October, the course was in great shape. You could see the greens had been aeriated, but they still were receptive and rolled pretty true. The fairways were still very green and weren't really long and slow.
Overall, it is a really fun course with a mix of challenge and scoring opportunities. It is typically a bit cheaper than Stoatin Bare, so I'd recommend it!
Playable Links
I found this course to be very playable. There is plenty of trouble but workable, I'm an 8 handicap and got that way by focusing on course management. This course does require good management, also course knowledge is very helpful since few holes are somewhat blind. This was very late fall play for Michigan and the greens were in exceptional shape as was the rest of the course. The greens were firm and reasonably fast for this time of year. This course is a GEM, especially for the money
Great Course
This is my favorite course near Kalamazoo. It has a great layout, it is well taken care of, and you can't beat the value for the cost. I strongly recommend Stonehedge North and South
The waiting game!
First time I’ve ever been at a course and had 5 people waiting behind me to tee off. Marshal came out did nothing to speed up there lay at all. At least two people behind us just ended up leaving so we really would have had 7 groups behind us waiting unbelievable. Very nice course but it seems like anytime I go to one of the gull lake courses I’m waiting decades to hit. I’ll be staying away from gull lake for awhile
Good course but over priced
Course has extremely wide fairways and big fast greens. Greens are the best thing about the course. Driving range was in the worst shape of any I've played this year.
Great course for hot deal
The course was overall a great course compared to anything else around the area defiantly some of the best greens around. I’m not sure if I would pay full price to play the course but whenever there is a hot deal no better value. The fairways were just a little rough you can tell it’s been played a lot. Not really enough to effect your play. If you have the time available and see this deal definitely jump on it. Have fun and keep it on the fairway!
