Inn at St. John’s
About Inn at St. John’s
This unique property became a golf resort in 2006 when the former St. John's Provincial Seminary reopened as the Inn at St. John's, a boutique, four-diamond property adjacent to the 27-hole Brae Burn Golf Club. The 118-room inn features Romanesque architecture, two ballrooms with 25-foot ceilings, a two-story atrium and 22 meeting rooms. The more casual Burger Loft complements the fine dining 5ive Steakhouse and Bar. The course, dating to 1923 before a third nine was added in the 1990s, shares its site with Carl's Golfland at St. John's, one of the country's premier golf stores. There's also a covered, heated range at Carl's to bang balls year-round to prepare for your battle with "The Monster" - the nickname for the 666-yard 13th hole, the longest par 5 in the state.Facts

Overbooked
I played as a single. There was 4 carts on every hole, impossible to play through. Grass uncut, lose a ball 6ft off the fairway which also caused delays in play. Everyone was looking for their balls even after watching it land. Staff was supposed to bring me a burger out on the course, that nvr happened.
No fairways cut with an even mid rough throughout the whole course, greens were bumpy, and the course was still soaked from rain a few days before. Fun layout and may be worth playing later in the year.
aerated greens
Course was just average. Greens were aerated. Guy behind the counter was CLUELESS. Think it might of been his first day on the job. DEFINETLY WONT BE BACK
Braeburn
Awesome course for the value! In great shape! Excellent food & drink a pleasure every time!
Average at best conditions
This course has a lot of areas that are in serious need of repairs. Parts of the course are in good condition.....so it just really depends on where you end up!! We used Golf Now and saved a few dollars, but it was still about $5 per person for nine holes too high!!!
Great value for the $$
This course is the best value for your money. It isn't the most challenging course but the greens are well maintained and challenging. The gun range next door can be annoying. The carts here are typically in bad shape too.
Monster got me.
The course sets up for a straight drive except for the Monster hole. Golfers have to draw the ball or use less club when driving. I tried a draw and the the Monster won!
Nice Course
Pace of play was very good, and a great day for golf
I would play this course again
This course was a blast, I will absolutely play here again. Pace for an earlier Saturday morning was slower, but not terrible.
Old Course That Is Fun To Play
First time my group played Brae Burn. It was a great time for all. Pace was a bit slow due foursome in front that knew nothing about "ready golf". Where was a Marshall? Cart paths need repaving. White tee markers were AWOL. We don hit far enough to play back tees. Silver tees were next best option which made course a bit short. Overall a great time and we will play Brae Burn again.
Conquered the Monster Hole!
The course and greens are in really good shape and laid out very well. The pace of play was quick. Very good value for the $$'s. I would definitely go back!
Brae Burn Golf Club
This was an enjoyable round of golf. Greens are very good if not a tad slow, but if they were much faster some of greens wood be impossible. The front nine is much easier than the back. The Back is about 400 yards longer and its up and down hills with a lot of elevation change I played the white tees the signs, except on the 666 yard monster I played the tips, that is a really tough hole, three different dog legs. The course needs some up dating, but plays well as is.
Not worth the money
I wanted to give this course a try. I heard mixed reviews and was intrigued by the monster. Sadly I won't play here again unless changes occur. Need to invest some money. Update signs, yardage markers and grass conditions. Several holes need redesign including the monster which you can't use driver from the back tees.Crazy greens that are not fair. Slow play 5 hour round. Too bad because I was hoping for another place to play
The greens will keep you honest.
The course itself isn't terribly difficult. Pretty wide open with minimal OB. You can pretty much always find your ball, so if you can scramble out of a wayward t-shot you can still get a GIR from almost everywhere. However... The greens all have serious sloping from front to back. The speed was manageable but if they were much faster they would be unfair. I had two second puts over 15 ft coming back. Again... Touch is key. I'd recommend for the price.
Ranger
Father's Day was crowned as every course but seems like the ranger wanted us to rush. 1st off he recommended that we play a 5 some instead of 3 2 as we planned and no reason to rich us as we kept pace very well. Other that that I had a great time. Friendly bar and grill staff. They were great.
Great course
Brae Burn is a great course with a variety of tests. I think it has a nice layout, some challenging but nicely maintained greens!
Good luck on the monster!
Keep the ball in play on this course and you will score well.
Always enjoyable!
Dont bother with your driver
I played in the morning, and the course was in decent shape. It had rained heavily the night before and parts of the course were extremely saturated. Lost a few balls to those conditions.
The course was extremely short. Playing form the tips is olny 6400 yards or so, and the yardages definitly looked to be exagerated on the Par 4 holes. A driver is only needed on the monster par 5.
Greens were in excellent shape
challenging course
Only thing I would complain about would be what I'm sure everyone complains about at any course during this time of the year, but I didn't see any signs of any leaf removal. And this course has a lot of woods. Other then that...the greens are finally fully recovered from the air-ration and played really well. For under $25 this is a fantastic course.
Like to play this course
Lately maintenance of course turn to be poor
It is a good course with few chela gong holes
If greens and fairways are good it can draw more people and leagues
