About Inn at St. John’s

This unique property became a golf resort in 2006 when the former St. John's Provincial Seminary reopened as the Inn at St. John's, a boutique, four-diamond property adjacent to the 27-hole Brae Burn Golf Club. The 118-room inn features Romanesque architecture, two ballrooms with 25-foot ceilings, a two-story atrium and 22 meeting rooms. The more casual Burger Loft complements the fine dining 5ive Steakhouse and Bar. The course, dating to 1923 before a third nine was added in the 1990s, shares its site with Carl's Golfland at St. John's, one of the country's premier golf stores. There's also a covered, heated range at Carl's to bang balls year-round to prepare for your battle with "The Monster" - the nickname for the 666-yard 13th hole, the longest par 5 in the state.

Where verbal and physical abuse to patrons is tolerated!

Let me start by saying that I have been playing here for 4+ years almost on a weekly basis; I don't mind the course and the staff, but the management of the course is atrocious. There were multiple incident where our group of 8 at various times felt unwelcomed, but due gave it the benefit of doubt, until this weekend. Mgmt stood silent when a drunken golfer went into a verbal tirade (extreme foul language and racial slurs) and started shoving one of my friends - all in the clubhouse in front of the manager and his staff! The manager did not try to diffuse the situation and did not call the cops even after we requested him to as the assault happened on his property. I for one have decided to boycott this course due to the inept nature of the management and their unwillingness to act when their patrons was being assaulted and verbally abused, all while on their property. I cannot change who they allow to play there or the attitude of the management, but can only boycott this and let others know of my experience.

the course was not busy as it is in need of repair but very wide open and never a flat putt. The cart paths need repaving and sometimes the directions

The course is old and the clubhouse is nothing fancy but works for a good golf experience if you are new to the game.

Brae Burn

Good course. Friendly staff. Rough grasses could be cut shorter. Lost a few ball when I knew exactly where they landed.

I like the hills

having played on a lot of flat courses the hills made it a challenging round and a lot of fun. The course was very busy and was well maintained considering all the rain we've had lately

Brae Burn

Was very wet!! balls would plug and was extremely hard to find them in center of fairway. Otherwise easy course, I usually shoot in the low 90's and I shot an 81 at this course.

Tough greens, but great course in excellent condition.

The course was very challenging, yet fair. Greens are perhaps unnecessarily large and difficult.

Slow pace of play but nice easy course

Easy course, rather short, not a lot of trouble spots. Greens very sloped and fast. Overall nice course to play if you have 5 hours to do so. The short holes really stack players up as many par 4s were driveable

Only holes 16, 17 & 18 were cut nice.

Horrible course conditions. Grass left on fairways & rough. Diving range was a joke.

Good Course! Great Golfnow Price!

The course is in good shape. Most of the greens are sloped from back to front and are fast, but roll true. Leave your approch shot below the hole if possible. Staff is friendly and you can't bet the Golfnow Hot Deal Price.

Nice course, slow play

This course is actually pretty nice and hilly, with wide fairways but challenging greens. Would have given a higher rating but it took 5 hours to play 18 (2 of us) and part of the reason is because they don't have a ranger to speed up the slowpokes.

Not a flat green on the course - almost sadist...

Lots of up and down, little ball-sucking ponds where you'd least want them. Some fairly narrow fairways, trees requiring straight shots. Did I mention slopes on the greens? Brutal!! But a fun and challenging course which is amazing value for the money.

This course was nice and open

This is a great course for beginners because of how open it is yet the greens will challenge your putting abilities.

This course has some challenging holes

This course has some challenging holes .... Then there's the Monster to look forward to (Brea Burn's signature hole 13). for early spring the course is fairly dry, the fairways mowed and the greens ... well the greens are what they are. Better shape than most. Fun to play, won't get board.
